anyone watching this ? denver went for two instead of a game tying extra pt and took the lead ...denver's offense is quite good this yr...could be another heartbreaker for sD

SD should have got the ball on that fumble.

Refs are handing the game to the Broncos

SD got hosed on the last drive. You can't slice that any other way.

Been watching this game all the way through, since I have multiple fantasy players involved, and it's been an incredible game to watch. Denver is going to be a threat this year. Their defense is awful, but that offense will win games.

CBS had a replay showing Denver getting robbed earlier, though I agree, SD got royally jobbed on that miscall. Still and all, I can't help but feel the classiest crowd is better prepared to handle inevitable crushing defeat with dignity.

I dont see the reasoning for going for 2, i mean your at home maybe on the road I could see it, but they did get it so who am i?

Eh? I think you've got the teams mixed up regarding that replay.

The Chargers wide receiver's elbow was down and then the ball came out... it was ruled a fumble on the field and couldn't be reviewed because the video thing wasn't working.

Cutler was doing all he could to lose that game, but Ed Hochuli would't let him.

wow.. that took some major cajones to go for two. SD got screwed, but that's the way the game goes sometimes. Wow... that game was nuts.

It's not like either team had a defense. Whoever won the coin flip was going to win the game...might as well take the shot with your offense when you've got the chance.

refs gave denver 15 points

chargers would have won 38-24

black eye for the nfl today

it's rigged

that was horrible

actually we shut out denver the entire 2nd half

it was 31-17 at the half

we scored 17 in the 1st half and 21 in the 2nd half

denver couldn't score on us at all in the 2nd half

till the gun show gave them the mulligan

ANOTHER BLOWN CALL IN DENVER
Posted by Mike Florio on September 22, 2008, 6:14 p.m. EDT

A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the game officials in Denver made another bad call that again contributed to a win by the Broncos.

Last week, it was Ed Hochuli’s failure to recognize that Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler had fumbled the ball, ruling instead that Cutler had thrown an incomplete pass. The Chargers easily recovered the fumble, which was overturned via replay to be a fumble, but which by rule was dead when it hit the ground.

This week, the crew of officials handling the game between the Saints and Broncos didn’t notice that a member of the Denver defense was clearly lined up offside on the third-and-short play that preceded the missed field goal by Saints kicker Martin Gramatica late in the game.

If the penalty had been called, the Saints would have gotten a first down at the Denver 19, with plenty of time to get closer for the potential game-winning field goal.

The referee was Ron Winter, but he was stationed behind the backfield. The head linesman was Jim Mello, and the line judge was Tom Stephan. One of them was straddling the line of scrimmage, and should have seen that the Denver play was lined up across the ball.

We’ve got a feeling that the Saints sounded like sinners once they figured out what had happened.

Here’s the image.
