it seems like every article/post i read people seem to think that pats will rush more than pass/throw..............i for one think that BB may take a chance and have the QB make more throws to the WRs ..... he sort of has a knack of doing quite the opposite of what others expect of him.........only time will tell........

POUND...THE...ROCK. If for no other reason to open up the passing game for Cassel.

10 votes and i am the only person who thinks the pats will pass more than rush :(

I do also. We are not changing to a running offense because we have a weaker QB.

Not so much for Brady's injury but I've constantly thought we need to run the ball more with Sammy Moris healthy and Laurence Maroney being awesome in a can.

However I don't think it's too difficult to be a decent QB with Randy Moss and Wes Welker as your top receivers...

then again Matt Cassel hasn't started an important game in forever...

Ummm...

Uhhh...

Well there... run the ball more.

I really think it will depend on what the Jets do...so if they have 6 DBs daring Matt to pass, they will get the ball shoved down their throat..if they put 8 in the box, Cassel will throw...

I agree ... why change now?
Cassell is a bright kid he'll have access to most of the plays.

I think it will be more balanced, 50/50 on the plays. Prior to Brady getting injured in the Chiefs game, they barely, if at all ran the ball.

same as last 7 yrs. unpredictable and changing per opponent. if we face 16 teams with the best run defenses we will pass 80% of the times. If BB becomes predictable we lose.unpredictability and versatility been the strength of the team .

I think the Pats will play to their strengths and to their opponents weaknesses. They will also adjust depending on what the defense is doing. :D

They will come out in five wides and throw the ball. We have talented receivers. Five receivers mean more opportunities to find seams and the open man. Means that the O-line has to play well and Matt has to make some pre-snap reads and so do his receivers. Can he and they do it? I think they can. The Castle will go out there and "just sling it." :D

I don't know if this approach will work this week. The

Jets shut down the Miami ground game (2.9 yards per carry).

If Cassel faces third and long numerous times, he will be in

trouble. I think they have to vary the attack a little and let

Cassel throw once in a while on first or second down.

You can bet that BB is not using the RRP formula to excess in the game plan. And if Mangini has half a brain (he must have at least half of one) he knows better than to think it's going to be that simple.

Cassel, Faulk and maybe Crable will bring an element to our game that's gonna suck for other to game plan.

Even if the rookies are rocking practice, activating them slowly gives you some game-plan advantage over the first hand-full of games.

The Pats will also have to change their defensive game plan.

If they stop the run and allow Favre to pass and hope for mistakes,

the plan may backfire. They need to put constant pressure on Favre.

Offense w/ Brady week 1

Passing Attempts: 11
Rushing Attempts: 4

Offense w/ Cassel week 1

Passing Attempts: 20 (2 Cassel sneaks)
Rushing Attempts: 16

Both TD drives had 3rd and long with Cassell making plays (Moss/Thomas).

I would say 50/50 due to the Jets defense.

Why do you think that the jets defense would be effective against a lineup of Moss, Gaffney, Welker and Thomas as receivers; with Faulk or Jordan in the backfield as the dump-off 5th receiver.

I would say 50/50 due to the Jets defense.

There has been a ton of speculation about what will happen, kind of like the draft expect the unexpected.. BB and Mangini know each other too well, kinda like a huge chess game.

My first play from scrimmage would be a play action so that the Jets would bite on the run fake and make a quick strike to Welker, Moss or Thomas.

I think the Jets wll assume we will want to establish the run early. By going with the play fake, I think they'll bite on it and give us the ability to make a quick play and send a message that we won't be predictable.
