It came to me, the best analogy for the team is that the Patriots are like the Ravens. Good defense, good coach and inconsistent offense. Lets hope it is like the one year McNair caught lightening in a bottle, not the Kyle Boller years.

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

What did you see in the KC game to make you think the offense was inconsistent?

No.

Not at all....

I don't know if you are serious or not but I will bite.

I was thinking of the season in general not just the first game. But looking at the KC game, not counting end of half or end of game situations there were at least 4 three and outs... that is a lot. 17 points against one of the worst teams in the league is nothing great either but a win is a win so I will take it.

I expect Cassell to be inconsistent, he is a career backup not Joe Montana.

Back to my analogy, lets remember the Ravens won a superbowl with Trent Dilfer, so keep the dream alive. The Pats D is not as good as the Ravens was but the Patriots are solid across the board so they really shouldn't be out of any content.

Forgot about the Dilfer year, I see...

Not sure Billick was that good a coach on a lot of levels. Lots more stubborn ego going on there than with Bill. And thus far here the Qb has not been a problem.

But hey, if it makes you feel better...

"Now, did you have a lot of crack this morning or just a little?"

Let's look at those four 3 and outs:

I recall dropped pass by Welker on 3rd down which would have been first down.

I recall Evans not picking up what should have been a gimme first down when he could not run for one yard on 3-1.

I recall Cassle being swallowed up on a sack when he had zero time- but wise SMART enough to eat the ball rather than rick a Favresque throw it up for grabs pass that could have brought disaster. That showed me alot.

I recall Cassle trying to find Moss deep and not connecting.

He managed the game well, no disasters, what more coudl you have asked for??

Seems to me we are fine.

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

and tomorrow if we put up 30 we'll be who?

and what if we put up 7?

one game and we know who we are. I guess it could be worse... we could have an identity crisis.

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

We have far more playmakers than the Ravens have ever had.

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

OK, the Ravens won a SB without a QB, and they went like 5 games without scoring an offensive TD. They have an accused murderer at middle linebacker. They had a RB that went to jail for drug dealing. They had a coach that "thought" he was a genius. No, sorry, I don't think the Pats are like the Ravens.

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

???

Last year's offense was arguably THE BEST OFFENSE IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL.

Please read this last sentence five times before continuing.
==================
THIS YEAR COMPARED WITH LAST
QB: WEAKER, obviously
OL: A BIT WEAKER, but fine when the backups are healthy; or we'll pick up a vet
TE: STRONGER with Thomas back
RB: STRONGER with Morris healthy and with the addition of Jordan
WR: EVEN with Moss, Welker, Gaffney back and Washington as the backup
BOTTOM LINE: EVEN OVERALL for the non-QB positions
================================
The question is how many game we will lose because we don't have Brady, and whether we are not a playoff offense and have to depend on the defense to get us to the playoffs. If Belichick thought that Cassel couldn't do the job, he wouldn't be here. If Belichick thinks that a veteran would give us a better chance (as starter or backup), the veteran will be here before the bye week ends.

I want a veteran; the chance for Gutierrez has passed. HOWEVER, I am fine if Belichick thinks that Cassel give us the best chance. If Cassel is the man, I expect the patriots to have one of the best OFFENSES in the AFC this year, not the best in history, just one of the best in the conference.

Our offense will be a PLUS this year, NOT a minus.

Dude, really. Don't site that if you don't understand the game. The result of that throw at worst was like a good punt. His downside was low, while clearly the upside was huge. Of course, it was very lucky that it resulted in a TD, but the play was not bad. Let it go.

Yes at worst it was a good punt. I mean it's 100% impossible for it to be run back if intercepted. Nope the law is if Favre throws an INT there you have to fall.

Secondly, he didn't cite any specific play... He said "Favresque", way to know the career of your QB

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

Sure, but we have Randy Moss.

He was referring to that throw specifically, and you know it, so don't get cute. And, yes, of course a pick can be run back. Just not very likely on that play with how it was thrown. So, in general, worse case was a punt-like result. The point was, Favre is likely to make some bad decisions this year. I, and most people who are not being intentionally biased, realized that it was not a bad play. Lucky to end in a TD, absolutely.

Re: The Ravens - we are the Ravens....

It seems more like the Patriots and the season Bledsoe went down and we all wondered how Brady would do filling in. Maybe Cassell will suprise us and turn out to be a QB that doesn't make too many mistakes and knows how to manage the offense.

Let;s see if you can add and subtract...take away the TD and now tell me the score that resulted from the ball that brett the jet threw up without looking please?? DUDE??
