but I had to put it out there.

Just heard on the PFW podcast from Fred Kirsch that our boy Matty Cassel was playing with the 1's last week (pre-Brady injury) and he was somehow hit by Vrabel (or Vrabel pushed someone into him). Evidently, he took exception to it and came to blows with the linebacker after a verbal exchange. A little fire in this guy's belly?

Probably means nothing to most, but the PFW guys were impressed with his press conference and took this as a sign that he's got a fire inside that we may not know about.

I think it was a good tidbit story. Let's see if see more of this on the field.

Personally I would prefer that our team not fight with each other.

welll if it was part of the pratice its okay but if its any frustrations coming out because of the current situation it may not be so good. one thing the team will miss among other things is brady's presence. a big factor of why cassel sucked in the preseason IMO was because the offense didnt really respond to him seemed to care playing for him. he needs build that reputation with them now.

ya know that fire Brady has, which was best exemplified when he scored that running TD in the snow versus the raiders. I hope Cassel's got that. even though tom is a "pretty boy" hes tough as nails. i hope cassel has that too

Lots of guys have the talent. The real question is does Cassel have the desire, the guts and the persona he needs to win. That is a good sign!

It's not unusual, in a heavy contact sport like this you get those incidents relatively frequently. IIRC, A. Thomas and Brady had a thing going in camp too.

Is AD kind of a dink? Seems like a lot of people dislike him (kind of like me actually).

Despite his goofy demeanor, Cassel apparently has quite the nasty streak in him (from the LA Times article posted in another thread):

"I actually thought he was going to be the next John Lynch," Clarkson said, referring to the Pro Bowl safety. "He single-handedly put out two of our top receivers with just vicious hits. You could close your eyes and listen for the collision, and you knew just by the sound of the impact who hit him."

Even though Palisades won the game, Clarkson said, "We basically lost the following week just because of the effects of Matt Cassel from the week before."

:rocker:

interesting little tid bit.

Funny thing is if we heard that a week ago we would be mad that a Back up QB is getting in a fight with a star LB but now it is good to hear because desire, fire, want, toughness, what ever you want to call it is an intangible I want in my QB.

Maybe they'll run a sub-package with O'Connell at QB and Cassel lining up as a TE. hehe, that would mess with their heads.

Yes. Plus, Vrabel is known to have a big mouth. No surprise here. It'll be checked before game time. Coaches will be sure of it. :)

i remembered something about that which was part of the reason this interested me. nice!

well..cassel was jumping up and down like he won the game after completing the 51 yard pass to moss.

Well, he didn't win the game, but he did win over the crowd. Watch the video of the pass on NFL.com: you can actually see the crowd coming to their feet (right to left) as the pass flies through the air.

Aside from denying the Chiefs a safety or good field position after a punt, he kept the crowd from losing hope--I honestly think that if that pass had gone dead, the Pats would probably have gone on to lose that game. As Dan Dierdorf put it, "That was the biggest pass of his professional career, by a wide margin!"

Or perhaps over-sensitivity. He needs to worry more about staring down his primary receiver, and less about feeling contact during practice.
