Is everybody as psyched about Sunday's game as I am?

i'm reeally excited! everyone acts like we're nothing now, but this team is so talented. they've got a chip on there shouldr, just like last yr. we all know how that went haha.

the jets think they have the division wrapped up now, but i think that the pats will gameplan well and take care of favre for sure. Belichick will have to make Cassel into a game manager, but the pats will still win.

I'll be there on Sunday, very much looking forward to it. There's a lot of intrigue obviously. We really have no idea what to expect, except that it will be a tough game.

Great. Here's an idea for signage for Pats fans in the Meadowlands on Sunday. The big story this week is that the Jets are in negotiations with the German firm, Allianz, to give the firm naming rights to the new stadium. Allianz did some very bad things during WWII, like insuring the concentration camps. There has been a huge outcry over this, including the back page of today's Daily News, in which Mike Myers excoriates both Jets and Giants for doing this.

A sign like "ALLIANZ AND MANGINI: THE RATS HAVE FOUND EACH OTHER" might get you on TV. Of course, it also might get you beaten to a bloody pulp by drunken Jets fans before they start assaulting women at half time, so I leave it to your discretion.

(Note: I don't know whether this is "fair" or "unfair" 70 years later, but hey, this is war when we talk about the Jets.)

Probably like everybody else here I'm PSYCHED to see whether we have the stinker reviled by the masses in the preseason, or whether we have a competent backup here, or... (of course it's the tantalizing possibility given the TD beauty toss and the 51 yard gainer...) if we have our "steve young" here to match to Brady's "Joe Montana."

Please note, I don't believe number 3 myself, because we haven't seen enough to believe that, and I don't think that Cassel will get the opportunities straight out of the gate to "be" that.

BUT... it's really tantalizing to think he'll get those chances, based on the weirdly opportunistic way he was immediately used in game 1.

If defenses are dumb enough to lock down the short and middle routes, we could... COULD... see some opportunities for rah-rah come Matt's way.

I'll be happy with "managing the game," personally.

Is it Sunday yet?

this isn't about Matt...at least not yet...this is about the team and the coaches...they will win or lose this game...i think they're gonna win.

I certainly hope they have a big-ass chip on their shoulders because people are writing them off now with Brady gone. I think they will really pull together as a team and BB will have them properly motivated.

I'm excited but nervous as hell at the same time. I also disagree with those who say there's no pressure on us now. This team should be a SB contender and this season could be the most exciting ever if the team (especially the D) can really step up. If we can keep Favre from running wild and force him into making some of the jackass plays that he is known for, we win the game.

I am looking forward to APPRECIATING victory...not going to take it for granted like most of our games last year.
Also, didn't the Pats knock Favre out of the game 2years ago? I hope they put a good hurting on him Sunday, also.

That would be Favre out, followed by Rodgers a series or two later. I believe Favre resurfaced later in that game and played hurt but am not sure.

I would actually rather see Favre stay in the game and heave pick after pick to give the secondary some confidence. Throw in a good number of sacks for added measure.

This game almost feels like a playoff game to me. I feel like it is going to be a war and we are going to have to play very well to win. I am extremely excited.

HELLS YEAH!

When was the last time we got to root for an underdog?

9/14 4:15 ET At NY Jets -1.5 New England 37

Pats and the under baby, all the way!

Lets face it everyone nationally is writing us off but I know most of the people here still think this team has a chance and feel like we really have something to prove. That our dynasty was more than just Brady. Im excited.

Moss and Gaffney sitting out of practice with injuries is not what you want with a QB trying to get more chemistry with them.
A bit misleading. They weren't "sitting out" with injuries.

They had a limited practice. That could me they only practiced for a few minutes, or that they practiced the entire time but were held out of one set.

Yeah the idea of a Moss injury is scary

Not no pressure, but a lot less. With everyone saying they are dead in the water without Brady, there are no expectations. There is no pressure except what is generated by players internally.

Also, the idea that the team should be a superbowl contender (which Iagree with, BTW) does not equate to pressure. We think in terms of superbowl and guess what record they will end up with. Football players are better at focusing on the job at hand: the next game.

In which I think we accelerate at. We have one of the best coaches in the NFL and time and time again he mentions during his press conferences about the next game....and the next game...and preparing for the next opponent...I think we will be fine and will kick ass!!

NJ Patsfan what is the buzz in Jersey. I heard everyone is expecting a blow out

Well I unfortunately work in the hell known as NYC...so I am getting all the flack in the world from my co-workers about Brady being out for the season and how the Patriots will fail and have a record worse than the Jest from last year...

So I just laugh about it all and just say wait until Sunday. Time will tell about it.

Other than that, the usual news agencies are reporting the Jest will blow away the Patriots on Sunday and we have no chance.

Just to give you an example....

Will the Jets beat the Tom Brady-less Patriots on Sunday?

Yes, they are the new favorites 70%
No, they are still inferior 30%

So there you go....gotta love being the underdogs again...

GO PATS!! BEAT THEM RATS!!

Have to admit, I am very pumped for this game. It's no secret as a fanbase we've gotten a little accustomed to the ho hum we are going to win because we have Belichick and Brady theory. And rightfully so, noone game plans and competes like these two do. We always knew are chances were greater than the other teams of winning. To be honest I've gone into about 90+% of our games thinking the Patriots would pull out the win over the last few years before opening kickoff.

Times have now changed a little and I feel like a new breed of fan. I feel once again like the fan from the 80's and 90's. Great uncertainty surrounds this team. Not quite like before because there is still a ton of talent at every level except the QB position. Very fortunate for us, but no longer a slam dunk of a win guaranteed in my mind anymore.

Brady is not perfect, but he is a excellent decision maker. One of the best ever. Bledsoe was far from perfect. Threw a good ball, but for the life of me, I always thought if we were up by 14 we would find a way to give it back. It was the nature of this team to make crucial errors at crucial times. It was almost expected.

BB and Brady changed all that. But here we are again minus Tom Terrific. I'm excited, I have butterflies thinking about the game this weekend. I am looking forward to next season when I can once again be the arrogant Pat's fan that other teams love to hate. But in the meantime I have no trouble strolling into the great unknown with this team. Exciting times everyone.

Go Matt and go Pats!
