How depressed would Pats-haters be if we won the SB without Brady?

Honestly, would there be any better way to make the average Pats-haters regret their existence even more than by the Pats pulling together, winning the division, representing the AFC in the Super Bowl, and maybe even winning it.

Again, I can't get over how bad I feel for Brady about his season ending before it started, I haven't yet moved past the anger I feel that we've been robbed of witnessing Brady to Moss this seeason, but I've otherwise moved into the "f**k them [the rest of the NFL] we can do this" mode and am really starting to feel confident we can win the way we won in 01.

The rest of the league [well, all the other fanbases] is laughing at us now. They are pathetically rejoicing in the injury of one of the league's star players. The pressure is gone, the expectations for the Pats have been lowered an incredible amount, but if somehow BB does it again and this team is successful - not even necessarily winning SB, but division and quality playoff run - than I don't even want to think about how downtrodden the average Pats hater would feel.

The Brady-haters would have new material for 2009, but yes it would be a dark time for Pats-haters (and pretty much every football fan).

yup, brady would be called a "system quarterback."

i think the suicide rate for this yr would climb...

or at the very least the depression rate

I disagree for two reasons - one, I think last season convinced even the most passionate Brady haters that he is not a "system QB" and his status as one of the all time greats is secure. Two, I don't think we'll see Cassel play nearly as well as Brady did in 01, but I don't think he'll have to. We're not going 19-0, it might not be pretty at all times, but our defense and our offensive weapons surrounding Cassel are enough to keep us as one of the SB favorites in my mind.

Besides that, in a weird way, it could elevate Brady's status. If he sticks around the team, if he continues to be a leader, I can only imagine the praise Cassel and BB will dish his way as the season goes on if we win the division and win in the playoffs. Brady helped build this offense as much as McD and BB, we've heard over and over that in the meetings, he is on par with those guys with his level of input.

It would be the ultimate redemtion/reply for last years SB. Other fans would be holding Jones Town type get togethers and the Kool Aid would be flowing. :p That or we should by stock in Prozac.

Like **** roaches they would go into hiding so fast you wouldn't see them.

For once I feel like I am as one with BB, because I truly, genuinely am only thinking about this week's game.

The statement made by beating Favre and the Jets at home in Cassel's first start of a lifetime would be almost a big as a playoff game, IMO.

Granted, thinking about winning the SB is getting WAY ahead of ourselves. But if we did, they'd say Belichick is a genius and the Patriots are true definition of a team. Some would even say Brady's not as great as he looked, but we'll only hear that from the talking heads, not the commentators who truly know the game !

You think players liked getting a late call from us before? THey would be fully convinced that the Pats are downright scary. Contenders, every year. That's not stopping in 2008.

It won't matter, because it will just prove that the Patriots were cheating again.

oh, I do:D

Thanks,

when I first joined, my sig was actually KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!, used it in reference to what I imagined BB saying to the rest of the league when we were just stomping everybody.

I don't remember Joe Montana's stock dropping precipitously after Steve Young's success. But maybe that's not a great subject to bring up, because my-oh-my did the 49ers look pedestrian at best without either due to injury (Kemp in '86 (winning 4 of 8) and Garcia in '99 (losing 11 of 12), although Bono fared better in '91 (winning 5 of 6)).

Nothing would be more demoralizing for Patriots haters than to see New England win the Super Bowl without Brady. Yeah, it would add to the "Brady is overrated" crowd, but who cares? We all love Brady, but his legacy isn't as important as the team's success is. Hell, at this point, if the Patriots make the playoffs, that would be a victory over the naysayers.

One game at a time please......

If we go to the Super Bowl or win the Super Bowl the haters will say the NFL helped us because it makes a great story ... just like they did in 2001 & 2003.

I prefer :"The greatest thing in life is to...
'Crush your Enemies... Drive them before you... and Hear the lamentations of their women'."

I've used that one before in one of my Sox forums.
