Moss:Pats still the team to beat in the AFC East

I think it may have been overreaching if he had said team to beat in the NFL but I think this is spot on and needed to be said by someone that would be heard. Let the Jets think this makes them top dog let the bills think they may have chance Moss knows as does the rest of the locker room this is still the Pats division.

But pats players usually dont make proclamations which is a bit unusual.

Pats players usually don't have to. Randy is the single best person to be the public face of confidence in his new QB -- well done as usual, Mr. Moss.

I totally agree with Midwest Sports Fan's reply, he needs to get Moss invovled in the game early and often. Show Moss that he knows he needs to get him the ball and the team needs his play making ability to compensate for the loss of Brady.

I am not concerned one bit about the other guys stepping it up but with Moss's history I think this would make sense. He made a good comparison to Romo and T.O. (not that I think Cassel is as good as Romo).

I like this too. I'm glad he's stepping up and taking a vocal role. People know that he left money on the table to come here, and it was mostly because of Brady. He knew playing with Brady would bring accolades to them both. Now with Brady, I wondered how he would react. This is a great first step in him embracing the captain's role and inspiring confidence in his team. I like it. It's not trash talk, just confidence.

It's the truth though. We're reigning AFC East Champs for how many years now? Of course we're the team to beat. The Jets, Bills and Dolphins can take it any way they want. They want to be the AFC East champs they still have to go through us to get there.

If this makes him more likely, so he can cash the check his mouth wrote, to spend quality time with Cassel on and off the field so that they feel more comfortable about each other in games, then that's great.

This is what you could call a vote of confidence from your best player. And the reason to make it vocal it to show stability in the lockerroom. If you noticed.. this goes against everything Belichick ask the players to do. Exactly the same reason why the team didn't signed a veteran QB.

Smart move by the smartest coach in the business...

Who gives two hoots if Randy have the Jets some BB material. More important he said we can win with Cassel. I heard the interview, quite frankly I don't think he went far enough.

But had he said, "Without Brady, the Jets are probably the team to beat in the AFC East" I would be calling for Moss to be cut.
