Pete Prisco: What a clown. The super bowl QB last year threw for basically a 1:1 TD/INT ratio during the season (23/20). Big Ben threw 17 TDs the year he won the super bowl. To assume that a good team in the league needs a Pro-Bowl QB is just stupid. He even overlooks the biggest advantage there is: the schedule. And to say that Matt Cassel won't be the Tom Brady of 2001 is fine with me because the 2008 Patriots are better than the 2001 Patriots at about 15 out of the 22 starting positions.

This seems a bit more reasonable.

I can understand Vegas changing their odds, and eventually ranking the Patriots lower if they start losing, but a lot of these "experts" are jumping the gun quite early. No. 17, wow?

I'd expect a fall to about 10-12............. just on the report. But 17. :singing:

Me thinks there is some "wishful" thinking going on here.

d%#*!@t I guess Rodney Harrison and co. actually have a reason to feel disrespected now

Yes, they're 1-0. But they're down here because Brady is done. Don't give me that 2001 song and dance again. This team won't make the playoffs.

:mad::mad::mad:!!!!!

I WANT THIS QUOTE SAVED, AND REOPENED ON THE EVE OF THE PLAYOFFS, AND SHOUTED FROM ROOFTOPS EVERYWHERE EVERY SINGLE DAY THEREAFTER!!!!

when 5 of the top 6 teams are in the NFC, ur rankings are seriously messed up...

when u have th titans number 7....owww, it only proves the above assumption...

when u have the colts w/ manning at 9....u can really stop the discussion right there...

but if u need more proof, put a BB coached team, whcih only lost one game th previous season, at number 17....

prisco is a huge raiders fan, he jumbled up his rankings because he's still highly pissed off over MNF

ranking a 1-0 team 17th is straight up ******ed

So you think all 16 1-0 teams should be ahead of all 16 0-1 teams, and anything else is "******ed"?

Hmm, last weeks #1, the Colts lose at home ugly and drop to #9, while last weeks #2 win at home and drop to #17. Yeah that's fair:rolleyes:

I look at stuff like this and figure who gives a sh!t, it's just another jackarse writer that isn't truly a fan of the sport, just someone who's throwing aomething against a wall to see if it will stick. If it doesn't, he'll come up with another goofy rating/prediction and see if that sticks. Writers are paid to get a reaction out of readers/fans like us. The greater the reaction, the greater the readership numbers, the more succesful those writers are made out to be.

As they would say here in New York:
1 to 17??? Fahgeddabowdit!!!!

I think this is great.. Nobody thinks we can do it.. Lets fly under the radar. Make it to the playoffs and do what the Pats do best, and thats winning!

Hell yeah. Prisco can suck it.

He probable does...but wince he never played the game what does he really know.

I think everyone on the offense is going to step it up. We will see alot better run blocking from the OL. They are really going to have to turn it on.

McDaniels is going to have to really work as Tom is not there to save his bacon.

I expect the team to close ranks and tell the media to F' off.

I love it, this is great.....

We dropped 17 points (with this clown).

Please more media chime in....

One week does not make a season -- unless you're the New England Patriots. Theirs is over. OK, so that's a bit of a rush. I'm guilty.

I keep hearing all this talk about how the Patriots will regroup under Bill Belichick, how he will work his magic like he did in 2001 when Tom Brady came off the bench to lead the Patriots to the Super Bowl title.

With Brady out for the season with a torn ACL, that puts Matt Cassel into the Brady role this season. He will make his first start since high school against the Jets this week.

Brady at least had Michigan.

Again, aside from the Patriots, one week does not make a season.

I can't wait to bump this when we beat the Jets this week and are suddenly the favorites to win the division again.

Prisco is definitely on the list of reporters that had been hoping for a Patriots downfall. Ranked 17th is ridiculous especially with some of the teams he has in front of them.

But, this should not be a surprise to anyone. The general media has been all over the team in a negative way for seasons now. Sports personalities were practically begging for an injury to TB before the season started (Wilbon for one). I understand they were talking hypothetically but they were not talking that way about other QBs nearly as much. We know the media is going to keep hounding the team.

I am confident the team is going to continue their winning ways this season and I am willing to bet the media in general is going to get more desperate and bitter as another winning season gets built. They will gloat over the every lose and explain why this team can not make it to the SB. If nothing else this will be an exciting year in more ways then one.

Just post it in the locker room.

I can see dropping the Pats, fine. But saying they won't make the playoffs? That's a little hasty. That's ok, we should expect this from a ****** like Prisco.
