What is everyone's favorite moment vs our neighbors in NJ?

For me it is a toss up. First, the game at the Medowlands vs the Jets in 2001, the one with the Jets fan proclaiming, "what a party" during their 13-0 lead in the first half. Only to have NFL films capture him, head in hands as the Pats win the game.

The other is the game to open the 1999 season, not the fact that Vinnie got hurt, but the fact that Tom Tupa had to play qb in that game. When you think of it, not that dissimilar to this Sunday. The Jets, suddenly the favorite, opening up their home schedule against the Pats, they have their ancient savior at qb...I hope the final result is the same.

In recent memory it was their second second meeting of 2003. The Jets seemed to think they had become the elite class of the division after their division winning season in 2002 and they thought Pennington was going to be the elite QB in the NFL (the next Joe Montana). Things changed quickly. We had already beaten them once and we ended up picking off their next Joe Montana 5 times in that game exposing Pennington's weak arm. I think the Pats sealed HFA in that game too which was big because the Colts had to come to Foxboro for the AFC Championship game.

All the Super Sunday games against the Jets in the 80s are my favorites, just after we demolished them in the playoffs in 85.

wow my first game was a Pats vs Jets game in 1978 at shea stadium , pats won 19/17

Recent memory probably opening day last yr ,that was great how we tourched them

99 When Vinny went down, the jets were super bowl contenders , smug and we beat them 30-28

I always liked this one. Fred Coleman's catch turned that game around.

My least favorite moment would be in 1999 when Tony Simmons dropped that pass. We were 6-2 and they were 2-6, in Ray Lucas' first start.

The 85 playoff game is probably my all time favorite.

Tubby Ratfink's first home game against the Patriots. The Pats went up by something like three scores. I was watching Tubby through binoculars and he was doing his "I'm the big boss just like Belichick" act, berating Schottenheimer on the sidelines in front of everybody. It was a special moment and illustrated what an immature faker Tubby really is.

My least favorite was in 98 at the Meadowlands. That game was just awful to be at. We actually left before Sedrick Shaw's TD because it was just a beating. Jet fans are a classy bunch, though...they were yelling at my 8 year old brother on our way out. As$holes.

My favorite moment is when we beat them. Every single one is awesome.

Great question- but this "rivalry" has never lived up to the hype. Its always been about off field stuff, and the games havent been marquis games or very competitive. I mean, we beat them 3 times in a season not too long ago. They NEED this game this sunday though, to justify $140M offseason.

Kevan barlow running in a muddy gillette and Cotchery continuing his title as a Patriot killer w/ the game winning TD :).

wasn't that the last second missed pat leahy FG to seal it for the pats? stanley steamer and wesley "one eyed" walker had some great catches in that game. it was my only live Jet game (shea stadium) experience.

but for me.. it will always be... 56 to 3........ my favorite

The 56-3 pasting in 1979... complete humiliation.

That's the Super Sunday game, but it was one of 3. The Patriots hit 50 points two more times against the Jets in that era, and I remember all the announcers saying, this is the annual Super Sunday game in Foxboro.

The 79 and 85 games are the most memorable for me. Making Gastineau and Klecko STFU!!

Mine would have to be when Matt Cassel scored the winning TD in week 2 of 2008. Wait, that hasn't actually happened...yet.

The one pictured below is pretty good.

September 9th, 2008..

"Behind the strong play of 1st time starter Matt Cassel, and a swarming Defense, the Patriots strong armed the NYJ 24-17, sacking Jets QB Brett Favre 5 times, and stifling the Jets running game to the tune of 68 yds rushing.
They never knew what hit them until the game was over, fans were seen walking out of the Toilet with tears in their eyes muttering Wha Happen"
