OK humor me here, this is hypothetical but it is a question that I have been wondering about.
But what if Cassel starts out slow kinda like Brady did and does ok so BB gives him more and more leeway until by the end of the season Cassel looks like a seasoned pro. Say he finishes the season with 30 TD's, 15 INT's, 3500 Yards and a QB Rating around 90. Then in the playoffs he leads the Patriots to the Superbowl where he wins it and has a great game where he is named the MVP.
Next year. You have HOF QB Tom Brady winner of 3 Superbowls but 32 years old and coming off ACL surgery.
And you have fully healthy 27 year old hot new superstar Matt Cassel who clearly is ready to be a Pro Bowl caliber starting QB.
BB is ruthless and very business like in his evaluation of players and the future. One of them has to go. So which one?
