Already I see remarkable similarities between the two.

I think Cassel very well could prove to be a fantastic QB given a little bit of confidence and experience.

So don't worry about not seeing any Brady on the field. I think we'll be treated by the student of Brady.

Pats fans rallying around Cassel are starting to sound like Miami fans after they drafted Beck. I hope the guy has a great season, but seriously, the proof is in the pudding.

Yeah except Beck wasn't a 4th year pro with extensive knowledge of the playbook and an understudy of the greatest quarterback in NFL history who'll be throwing the ball to the best wideouts in the NFL.

You're right. It's totally the same.

Title sounds kinda gay.

Yes, the fans wide-eyed hopefulness is very similar. In fact, you see it with fan-bases across the NFL for most any player that fans hope will be great. It's always interesting to observe. Oh, and gambler's fallacy.

I've said all preseason, and some last year that Cassel mimics a lot of Brady's manerisms... He "looks" like Brady in the pocket, in stature and his maerisms. Of Course that is about 20% of battle, his decision making is what makes Brady all pro.

I think if Our Offensive game plan goes to 4 and 5 wides, with lots of quick slants, and design the game plan around pre snap reads rather than relying on Cassel to read the defense on the Fly liek Brady does will make him very successful.

Go to 5 WRs pick out the biggest mismatch and throw quick passes and slants to build confidence, and through the experience of a year's worth of playing, he will see more opportunities to look at 3rd adn 4th options on a given play.

BB and McDaniels and coach up Cassel by design plays to create the obvious mismatch at the line of scrimage, allowing Cassel to have to time to settle in and decide what he wants to do, and make high percentage throws on the quick slants, and outs...

If we do that, I think Cassesl, although may not throw for 300 yards every game, will manage the game with multiple 6 minute drives through out the games...

So yes, I see a lot of 2001/2002 Brady in Cassel...

Out of curiosity...I checked on some of the NFL's QB wonderlic scores (intelligence test).....NFL average=24

Tom Brady 33
Tony Romo 37
Eli Manning 39
Peyton Manning 28
Carson Palmer 26
Ben Roethlisburger 25
Brett Favre 22
Dan Marino 15 (wow)

Matt Cassell 30

This is wishful thinking, unfortunately. Because Brady came out of nowhere to be a star, people think that's something you can just replicate. Brady's story is exceptional for a reason, and there's a reason there's the term "a diamond in the rough".

Anyone expecting Cassel to be "fantastic" is setting themselves up to be let down. That said, there's no reason he can't be a very capable NFL QB for this season if he stays within himself and lets the players around him help.

Not so much a wow for me... you ever seen Marino on the preshows? He's a certifiable dope (albeit a talented one). The wow for me is Eli - a 39?!?!? He just looks dumb. I don't even dislike the guy, but he looks like a mouthbreather.

I think it's a tad hasty to Cassel reminds me of Brady, he still has a lot to prove. I don't, however, think it's naive or anything for us as Pats fans to support Cassel. He needs confidence, and a strong show of support from fans will contribute to that. No reason to be negative yet, he showed some good skills on Sunday. I'm looking forward to next week.

I was about to say that....Well, in MA it's all good. They can get married. Although, I think it would come as a shock to Giselle.

We'll find out... but not every team is going to be as easy to beat as KC or the Jets. And lets face it... the Jets are way over-rated. They barely beat a Miami team that was lucky to win one game last year and now they are favorites to win the division??? The pats will most likely expose the jets this week end. But that will not answer the questions about Cassel.

he wont really be tested until another month from now, against San Diego, and even they aren't all that good.

Tell you right now, if the Patriots can beat the Jets and beat them by a few scores, we're going to be hearing all about how the Patriots are still the team to beat. Then the Dolphins will go after Cassel's knees.

I agree to some extent.

And in a way, an insult to Cassel is an insult to Brady. Can you imagine a better guy to learn behind than Brady?

Besides, Brady is on IR b/c of his knee. His brain will still be around. He may not be there on the field, but maybe he can be an Obi-Wan Kenobi to Matt Cassel's Luke Skywalker.

Well, we can officially disregard Wonderlic scores now.

Hey, that is really funny....I laughed out loud reading that last line.

There was a study done about QB's and the wonderlic test....Says, some QB's with high scores tend to over-analyze reading defenses and hang onto the ball...Bledsoe had a 36 and fit this to a T.

It also said that some QB's who had lower scores, played with more heart.

There was also some information elsewhere that says that QB's peak around age 32.

A middle-aged blonde heard that milk baths would make her look young and beautiful again.

She left a note for her milkman to leave 25 gallons of milk.

When the milkman read the note, he felt there must be a mistake. He thought she probably meant 2.5 gallons. So he knocked on the door to clarify the point.

The blonde came to the door and the milkman said, "I found your note asking me to leave 25 gallons of milk. Did you mean 2.5 gallons?"

"No", said the platinum one, "I want 25 gallons. You see, I'm going to fill my bathtub up with milk and take a milk bath so I can look young and beautiful again."

The milkman asked, "Okay. Did you want it pasteurized?"

The blonde said, "No, just up to my tits is fine. I can splash it on my face from there."
