Guiteriez is on his way back.. This would make the most sense next to Vinny coming in.. I dont know why Mort and Espn have the facination with Dante Culpepper.. he is not in the leauge for a reason, he is a bum..

Gootz would be there unless something happend to Casell.. In 2008 Matt Casell has the keys and he is going to drive the car until something happens..

By the way I heard this on D and C on EEI , i cant confirm this..

Culpepper had an MVP-caliber season before the knee injury, and he's had time to heal. When the Steelers brought him in, they couldn't believe he wasn't starting for a team in the league, per PFT. It might be worth a look considering Cassel hasn't proven himself worth starting since high school...Just my 2 cents

Guiterez makes more sense. Culpepper not so much. Matt G. knows our system. Culpepper does not. I don't understand this fascination with Dante Culpepper.

Then why didn't the Steelers sign him?

Culpepper would be a solid addition. He'd be ready the week after the bye.

Not sure he's what the team wishes for...time will tell.. No links to any stories??

He would be a Patriot if Randy Moss wants him here. I think the Moss factor would influence BB to give him a trial workout. Just my opinion.

We would have to simplify and change the offense - but I wouldn't rule it out depending how Cassel plays this week in his first ever start - on the road, we'll see how it goes. If he can't handle it, our other choices are Gutierrez and a rookie. I hope, and have hope, that Cassel will be alright but if he's not we'll have to suck it up, get a veteran and work the playbook around him. We don't need a great QB to have a solid offense.

Hopefully, though, this time next week we'll be discussing how we can try to Franchise and Trade Cassel in the offseason ;)

Matt is our QB, O'C is our rookie, and Gutz will be Matt's backup. At least for now.

I'm calling PETA-I hate to see dead horses whipped so mercilessly:p

Culpepper just isnt smart enough to pick up this O in such a short amount of time would be my guess. But we all know what ESPN is about. They love a big story, and reuniting Culpepper and Moss, the 2 guys most responsible for a 41-0 LOSS to the Giants in the NFCC game several years ago, would be just a beautiful story. Hopefully, our front office wont bite. We're not going anywhere with Daunte Culpepper leading our squad.

Gotta rally around the kid, bring Gutz back in and get him prepped just in case, and roll with it. We're playing with house money for the rest of the year. Win or high draft pick. Win or high draft pick. Win or high draft pick. Its a 50/50 proposition. But we all wanna win.

I just wonder what happens if Cassel goes 7-25 with 3 INT. What then ? Gutierrez who we cut and no-one picked up ? The rookie ?

Sunday will be VERY interesting.

I will say, though, this will be the first time ever that Cassel will get first team reps in practice in the regular season which could really help him.

What Moss needs to do for now is step up and connect with Cassel, which he did on Sunday.
Moss is a captain and what they need him to do is conduct himself like one by setting the example and rallying his offense around Matt Cassel.

JMO but the absolute WORST thing that could happen is for Moss to start complaining, and I see no signs of that happening at all at this time.

For him to do anything less than support his QB would cast him in a rather disappointing light. He's essentially the leader of the offense, and he's probably the one who needs to step up the most. If he falls short of that, and I don't believe he will, then he's letting the team down.

Getting Cassel established in this role is the #1 priority I'd imagine.

Time will tell on Cassel. Good point about the practices-he'll be getting the real deal now and that's only good.

For whatever reason, BB's apparently sticking with the homeboys, so far anyway. If Matt C sukcs, we're in deep sh*t:cool: Then again, according to BB there was a laundry list of calls from QB's offering their services. JMO but no matter who we have as backup (Gutz, veteran from the outside), if Cassel doesn't work out or stinks, we're in Trouble.

I don't understand all the talk about the Patriots needing to go elsewhere to find a QB? I know Cassel hasn't had many snaps but who else around the league knows BB's system better than Cassel? He had alot of snaps thru training camp and pre-season, personally I think they should stick with Matt. The only way he's going to get better is more snaps. He certainly knows the playbook through and through and he has alot of talent around him so why not leave him in place? There isn't another Brett Favre in the league who can come into a new system and start winning right off the bat and what I read earlier, says the Pats only have $3.2M left on the cap anyways.

Ready to do what mg? He can't read defenses, never could and that had nothing to do with his knees. What's he gonna do, stand there like a deer in the headlights behind an OL that can't pass block consistently and launch bombs to Moss all day like Brady couldn't last February? He can't hit Welker or Faulk on those quick slants - all he'd be here is a distraction. Not to mention he's a turnover machine and that is one thing we can't afford under these circmstances.

This is a guy with so little grey matter and so much ego he handled his own rehab in a freakin' parking lot gym and mismanaged his own career off three rosters desperate for a remotely functional QB who now insists he must be being blackballed 'cause it just couldn't be that 32 GM's think he sucks in a QB starved league. He'd be nothing but a distraction here.

Same thing that happened when Brady intermittently SUCKED in 2001 - you go back to practice and correct the mistakes and get ready for the next opponent...

We were 0-2 when Brady took over and 5-5 coming off a loss to the Rams when he was named the starter for the remainder of the season even with a healthy Beldsoe on the roster and cleared to play...

I'm with you. First, can Daunte spell Patriots. If so then we can go to question two. Where is Massachusetts and work from there.

Now that's a position
