This sounds like BS to me. He was probably the guy that said they were coming in and was wrong and can't admit it. BB said today in the PC that they have not contacted any qb's and had no plans to (although plenty have called them).

I would not have confidence in the Pats O line to guarantee Cassells safety, Just saying I have seen teams lose there starter and backup QB for the game on the same series of downs.

I smell BS on this. You want me to believe that both these guys travelled halfway cross country to get to Foxboro to be told " oops, we don't need you"???? Even if they didn't. they'd have them throw it anyway. Otherwise, the Pats would look like a two bit operation.

Right. I can't imagine not working them out out of curiosity if they were there anyway.
Sounds as if there was a reporting screwup. The agents probably planted the stories as being something supposedly likely to happen, and ESPN misinterpreted that as it being more definite, hoping for a scoop. Oops.

Something has to be going on, I can't imagine we're going with just Cassel and O'Connell - and even if we were we'd probably work some guys out just to have a list ready to go in case Cassel gets hurt this week.
How many teams only carry two quarterbacks? It's a serious question. I was under the impression that a third quarterback was largely free (except for the salary) because you can designate a third QB who doesn't take up a roster spot but can still play, as long as once he enters the game after the third quarter, he can't come out.
Maybe I'm mistaken about some of this, but I think the Patriots have to get a 3d QB now, right?
Down here in Nashville, I have heard Simms' name mention today, but that might have been on ESPN as well. Cant remember, but I have heard that they(Titans) are looking at him.
