Did anyone see the Colts game last night?

Re: Did anyone see the Colts game last night.

Colts looked BAD last night. They really miss Jeff Saturday. The Bears just blitzed up the middle all night long and Indy couldn't handle it. Couldn't run, Couldn't pass. Dallas Clark got knocked out of the game, Addai got knocked out.

And Chicago played Awesome. Forte is the real deal too. Reminds me of Adrian Peterson. Not as good moves, but can still make defenders miss, and has plenty of speed. He's gonna be good.

Re: Did anyone see the Colts game last night.

must be a blueprint.

I think that Emmit Smith called it a "bootprint for success" which normally is just another hiarious misstatement by the least literate analyst ever, but in this case the Bears did in fact leave a lot of bootprints all over the Colts.

That game was the only thing remotely enjoyable about the entire weekend.

The last play of the San Diego/Panthers game was pretty good too. Deafening silence as some no-name tight end caught a way-too-high pass from Jake Delhomme, who looked like he was buried by the rush, but somehow managed to pump-fake & heave it.

Re: Did anyone see the Colts game last night.

I turned it on for a couple of plays. On the second one I saw Urlacher penalized for "roughing the passer" because he touched Peyton a couple of milliseconds after he'd delivered the ball. Even Michaels and Madden couldn't defend that. I thought: here we go again, another season of outrageously biased refereeing in favour of the Colts. I'd had enough negative emotions for the day so I switched off.

Perhaps we ought to have a sticky thread in which we record bad calls in favour of the Colts through the season. It's not just when they play the Patriots.

The Bears defense manhandled the Colts, Manning looked dazed and confused (love, love, LOVE those shots of him yelling and flailing at the OC and that stupid goofy effin dazed and confused look on his mug) and Marvin looks 1,000 years old.

Loved the overhead shot of all the hayseeds streaming out of the new stadium with several minutes left to go in the game.

There were periods of time where you could have heard a pin drop, looks like an open air stadium was a bad idea, I'm sure the place will be locked down tighter than the Pentagon when they play the Patriots.

The Bears won going away, despite having a fumble recovery at the Colts' 20-yard line (on the kickoff play) taken away from them when the replay clearly showed the Colts fumbled.

To me it looked like an optical illusion: how are the crummy Bears beating the Colts? I still don't know, but it was more than just the Colts O-line. Part of it is that the Colts fumbled a lot --- which won't happen every week --- and part injuries again.

Still, very encouraging. Could the two Pennsylvania teams be the NFL's best this year?

Re: Did anyone see the Colts game last night.

Bears played great, colts looked Rusty and confused, simple as that. Missing 3 o-line starters, Clark and Addai both got hurt during the game, Marvin looked rusty, Peyton looked rusty, Sanders was missing tackles, Hayden dropping INTS, Ugoh gave up a couple of sacks, Marvin and Wayne dropped a couple of 3rd down 30+ yarders, I could go on and on....

but it's only week one....we saw how the Giants started last year

There was a corker earlier on where the Bears recovered a fumble and the Colts retained posession. The rationale was the zebras incorrectly called the play down by phantom contact but could not reverse it (costing the Bears a challenge TO) because while a Bear came out of the scrum with the ball they were not sure when he secured it since they didn't pay attention once the crew chief blew the call...

But the as the night continued on and the Colts kept screwing up the refs gave up on saving them...

Re: Did anyone see the Colts game last night.

"I could go on and on...."

Please do, the excuses are endless as to how you gagged away that game.

Re: Did anyone see the Colts game last night.

I loved that game. Despite the refs' valient efforts, Da Bayiz still won handily. I was very impressed with the assertive manner that Forte and the other RB hit the designated holes. No dancing.

Manning missed connecting with his WRs on a couple deep patterns just by inches. For once I agree with the announcers. Manning lacked the confidence that his opposite number exhuded. Go figure.

Just inspecting the Colts, their team is hurting. Its much more than just Saturday.

Harrison has gone over the hill. In his prime, he WAS a threat. Now he is a shadow of that. The losses on the Offensive line are adding up. The mighty Offense is disappearing. That destroys their Defense too.

Their Defense is predicated on playing with a three TD lead. Then they can play the pass and ignore the run. Freeney and Mathis are a joke as pass-rushers. As soon as Freeney lost even a partial step, his game is gone. His whirling dervish move, guarantees that he takes himself out, and he can't defend the run.

Mathis never had one, except as an, ignore-the-run, pass rusher only effective with a three TD lead. Who else plays 225 pound Defensive Ends? They have a rookie MLB, and a couple of still learning sophomore undersized LBs too.

Still the Colts as a whole, are younger and healthier than the patriots

Brilliant analysis of the Colts, dead on accurate in every way.

Clarke is hurt, Saturday is out, the jury is still out on Manning's knee and Adai absolutely got his bell rung.

Brady is out for the year and..........................? Don't get your point.

How about this; the Patriots are 1-0 and the Colts are 0-1.

Keep the brilliant "they were just rusty" and "we're younger and healthier than the Patriots" statements coming though.

If there's one thing I try to remember after opening day in the NFL its this:

No team is as good, or as bad as they are on opening day.

Translated to yesterday....

Colts are not as bad as they looked last night

Bears are not as good as they looked last night

But most of all

The Jets are not as good as the media is making them out to be.

Sounds like we DO need that thread ...

The one thing that stands out is Peyton is too hurt to run that stretch play which is really the base play of their offense.

That play is so tough to defend because they run play action off it so often you can't attack the running back allowing him to gain a lot more yards. Running a toss takes away the play action threat and will not have the same success.

Okay the Colts had a stinker last night. I know it and it was horrible to watch. It reminded me of those games in 2006 where we got run over by the Texans, Titans and Jaguars and tackled badly and showed no intensity anywhere. We almost deserved to get slapped around and lose.

Manning was rusty but I expected the defense to come up big for us.Freeney looked good to me but nobody else did.I don't put much blame on Manning and the o line considering what they have been through lately. And Marvin looked okay to me I am not sure what some are saying. Someone knocked the ball out of hands, this new trend with him has to stop with game changing fumbles. Wayne and Gonzalez need to be sharper too.

Time to move on from this game. On the brightside we won't be peaking early this year.:D

Dungy said watching the game over yes it was that bad so they have a lot of work to do. The Bears kicked our asses and were simply a better team yesterday everywhere. No excuses. I will be patient with this team. They have work to do.

Bears kicked our butts and they were obviously more motivated and wanted it more. We need to get the urgency back, hopefully we get it now.

As for the Patriots we don't play you guys for some time and without Brady I am not feeling the excitement.:(

Thats a good point. We need to get that back. Hopefully soon.......

Manning only got sacked once last night but at times it looked like there was too much pressure on him and you could tell he was being cautious at times and not comfortable.

And whenever he did get into a groove something killed his momentum it seems.

Did you see what the Bears did to the Colts last night with Kyle (friggen) Orten .The Bears punched the Colts in the mouth in their new house. The physical play shut down the mighty Colt offense. We can do this with Matt.

yeah

**** the colts
