Yes this year will define BB's entire coaching career. 2001 never happened, nor did any of BB's other successes with other teams. This season can potentially "unmask" one of the greatest coaches ever... YEA OK MAZ ya moron

Please don't post links and/or click on them to support these clowns. I have no interest in what they are saying. My only interest is in the product we are going to put in the field in NJ this coming Sunday. Go Pats!! Many of us out here still believe in you big time!!

I didn't know Mazz went to the Globe.

Tell you how much I care.

I didn't think it was that bad a column and seems to be a legitimate question

I don't really have a problem with his article. It does make you think though that if the Pats can regroup from this and make it all the way to the big game, the Krafts should commission a bronze statue of Bellichick in front of the stadium.

only in boston the media can be excited to see their own team and coaches fall for their personal reasons. he and borges dont have access to the pats so they throw this out.
its sick that he and reiss work at the same paper now.but people like dan patrick think its a great column...

I don't really have a problem with the article, it definitely gives you something to think about. This season will really prove just how good BB is.

Hate to say it, but you have to face the fact that BB's coaching record is not good without Brady. What is unfair about this article?

The numbers are fairly staggering. Belichick was 36-44 with the Browns; the Patriots were 5-11 in 2000, Belichick's first year, sans Brady. And they lost their first game in 2001 (sans Brady). That's a total record of 41-56 with one playoff appearance and no victories....

Let's see...would you say the same thing about Red Auerbach and Bill Russell?? Sorry maybe before your lifetime..

ok Ron I mean Wrong, whatever you say

so if we dont make the playoffs this season and go 8-8 BB is just an average coach ?

^^^ The Browns stuff is quite unfair because he took over a bad team and had them moving in the right direction. It's the same with the Pats. Your a team in transition.. You don't expect year 1 to be awesome.

Personally I think the Pats will find a way to win alot of games this year.

I think what we will miss is Brady's just amazing "clutchness" where he can pull out miserable situations. Like your down 7 and need to make a drive to tie up the game..that kind of thing..

Pete

Not true granted no NBA titles, but Red was 269-210 in his NBA coaching career before Red. A .561 winning percentage

No, that would be unfair and untrue. I think the gist of the article is that BB's record just isn't as good without Brady. I find it interesting how similar this article is to the one that was posted yesterday on Cold Hard Football Facts. I hope there wasn't any plagiarism Maz.

so bill walsh ,chuck knoll are all great coaches with great QB's but BB could be an average coach without his QB.
the media scrutiny has become so much these days that they would write anything to make a story.

No. Those are the numbers. They are not wrong. You are wrong.

The question is certainly a valid one.

If the pats stink again, without Brady. I think it says a lot.

heh, I find it interestintg that the same crap was posted when they lost Crennel and Weiss. Funny how they forget the Brady of 2001 wasn't the Brady of 2003-04 or 07. He simply managed the O that year as a caretaker. I think BB did a pretty good job that year after his franchise QB went down.

Yes, it says that there is a vast gulf in ability and value to a team between a HOF QB and a guy who may not even be an NFL backup.

That may be news to MLB weenies like Maz but it's like freakin obvious to football fans
