I was under the impression you are not suppose to hit the player below the knee's. Wilfork was fined for the same thing.. I know its football and it happens , but he led with his helmet, 99 percent of the time you hit with your helmet below the knee , your fubard....

He wasn't "leading with his helmet," he was attempting to tackle Brady. You're not supposed to hit a QB below the knees, but he was attempting to wrap up and make a tackle, not "hit." It was unintentional and while Brady was still holding the ball. Defensive players still have to be allowed to tackle the ball-carrier.

It was not dirty and the only reason most of us here have a problem with it and why some call it "dirty" is because of the BS fines on Wilfork last year, on plays that weren't dirty. Just because Wilfork was wrongfully punished doesn't mean others should be as well.

He was inadvertently blocked into him. It wasn't dirty. Morris was literally falling on top of him as he went for Brady. No one is to blame.

He was not attempting to wrap up and make a tackle... He lunged on hands and knees at Brady's legs. DIRTY

I think it was intentional and he knew what he was doing.
He grabbed Tom ankle and pinned it and then drove his helmet into
his leg. That is what you do ... if you want to tear tendons and players
know it!

The fact the blocker had knocked him to the ground and then
he made his scramble move, pinned Tom's ankle and his facial expressions which indicated a ferocious effort to dive his helmet through Tom's leg all leads to a conclusion... it was an intentional act to rip up Tom's leg.:mad::mad:

The hit may not have been dirty but it was stupid and it was against the rules. Because Bernard Pollard sucks and got knocked on his ass by Morris the only play he had was to lunge at Brady's knee. Being the dumb f#$^%# that he is, he thought this was a good option.

He hurt Brady because he sucks and the only play he could make was an illegal one. Its illegal for a reason, which we all saw yesterday.

brady is gone for the year. dirty? not dirty? what difference does it make. :(

Moss said it was dirty hit. If the league fines him for the hit then it is end of story. The record books will have it down as a dirty play.

I don't think it was dirty, but if Morris wasn't there he would have still be shooting for his legs just to get a piece of him.

After seeing the video a couple times I honestly think so too, I really do think it was a dirty hit, he lunged right at Bradys, low around the legs...

I don't care what anyone else says, I saw the video time and again, it was a dirty hit...

I don't like the fact that Tom is hurt as much as the next guy but, to be honest, I don't think it matters at all if the play is dirty or not because it doesn't do anything to change the outcome of the play. He could just as easily have been hurt worse on a clean play, or not hurt as bad on a dirtier play. But the clean or dirty part has nothing to do with the outcome and everything to do with how we feel about it. It's really not substantial in any way.

Well if you define dirty as against the rules. Then yeah it was dirty.

"No defensive player who has an unrestricted path to the quarterback may hit him flagrantly in the area of the knee(s) or below when approaching in any direction."

His arms were extended in an attempt to wrap up. He lunged at Brady's knees because Sammy Morris was on his ******* back, pinning him down, and Brady had the ball. Brady had the BALL! In his hands!

You expect Pollard to quit on the play?

It is unfortunate but that doesn't make it dirty.

"Unrestricted path." Sammy Morris was on his back, restricting him. And it wasn't flagrant.

It wasn't even against that rule.

The thing is, against the rules (and I don't necessarily agree there since neither he nor the path were unrestricted) is just that, against the rules. So you get a flag or a fine or whatever based on the existing set of rules. But "dirty" is a value judgment and tends to be the equivalent of crying "not fair" when fair has nothing to do with it.

It wasn't a dirty hit. Brady still had the ball, and he's trying to make a play. If anyone saw the interview of Pollard after the game, you can tell that he was very sorry about the play.

Brady stepped into his helmet before the knee bent. How could it be a dirty hit if 240 pound Sammy Morris is ON TOP OF YOU? Face it, the play was an accident. Pollard got up, apologized to Brady, tried to help him up, then signaled for the Pats' training staff. Not a dirty hit. Let it go.

+1.

I can't believe it wasn't called, either. There is a rule in place that is supposed to protect QBs from exactly this type of crap, and it wasn't enforced. That means next time, it won't be a deterrent.

Did he have to lead with his head.. I dont know , it was faster in person than on tv.. And im sure he did mean to do on purpose 9 times out of 10 when you make helmet to leg contact bad things happen.. Your right his leg was locked and a 240 pound guy coming and full force not withstanding.. I guess we are all just looking for some resolve.. That is all:mad:

You're still in the anger phase. It will pass in time.
