This has hit me hard...just yesterday AM way before the game, I mentioned those who may be spoiled..the perspective of fans taking a few steps back to see... and then hours later...Brady's injury and those questions having deeper meaning without number 12....
frontrunners...those that will disappear if the Patriots are not SB contenders and the like....
NOT at all what I expected or wanted..or having this dicussion so soon...

rally around the team and the team will rally.

we are human. we're back clark kent trying to become superman

we were a overall balanced good team and we'll still compete. just need to improve every week

I totaly agree...we are..and the bandwagoners and others will disappear..I totally agree...

the site would be faster on gameday

The Pats just lost the best player they will likely ever have for the season - possibly even longer.

This run is not going to last ever. BB will be gone someday. Brady is now facing a very serious injury. Who knows how that will work out. The Super Bowl chances for 2008-2009 do not look promising -they look like they would take a miracle at this point to be honest. I hate wasting what would have been another season of those 2 together.

Am I going to stop watching - no. I watched during the Rod Rust era. That doesn't make it any less depressing.

I depressed about brady cause it seems such a waste to lose such a great player but I am in no way depressed about this season. It's not going to take a miracle, just a lot of luck and hard work. I believe that we can pull it off

Having somethign liek this happen has really brought out the bad in this fanbase and I can't believe some of what I'm seeing. I haven't been a Pats fan long, only since the 01 SB so this is my first time without Brady and am sticking by this team no matter what.

I know this run was going to end sooner or later, but never wanted to have this happen..

For some reason, this has affected me less than the Indy loss and the Super Bowl loss. I think it has something to do with the fact that we don't know Tom's status and the season has just begun. Hell, if anything, the pressure is off now. To all the haters, bandwagon jumpers, and naysayers, I say "good riddance". There was a lot of joy initially throughout the rest of the NFL when Bledsoe got hurt and look how that turned out. Is Matt Cassel the next Tom Brady? I seriously doubt it, but nobody knows what is going to happen and who is going to step up on the offense and lead this team. People, please, get a grip, stop pouting and give these guys the benefit of the doubt. I believe they've earned it.

The thing is you only have so many years left of Brady in his prime, whatever that is, four, five. It's hard enough to win with him (I would argue we should have won the last 2 SBs), but to give up a year (and a half?) in his prime is just criminal.

I'm just not ready to bail yet....I have an unabashed mancrush on TB, but I just think that football is the ultimate team sport...and last time I checked, the Pats were a pretty good team...

We aren't out yet, this is a huge blow to the team, but maybe Cassel will be one of those people who steps up when no one expects him to. Part of the problem I think for Cassel was that when he was playing for a backup job he still knew he had no shot of getting any playing time behind Brady, so how does that motivate him?

Carson Palmer was injured in the playoffs and came back the next fall. Do you really think Brady isn't going to work his a** off to be ready as soon as Bradyly possible?

I am not a huge Bengals dude, but I have heard some say he just isn't the same.
Maybe someone more in the know can confirm this.

This Injury to Brady makes all the dumb threads last December about Maroney sucks cause he doesn't have good yardage stats & Seymour sucks cause he doesn't have Freeney like sack stats look even dumber now. They should have enjoyed what was.Maybe they can all go be Celtics fans now.

Wanting and having sucesss is being "spoiled" now? I've been following this team for nearly thirty years. I know from which I came.

No, but not understanding the success in the perspective of the total franchise is..MANY DO understand that...but there are a lot of fans who have never been a fan in the lean years..pre-Kraft and Parcells..THAT was my only point..as I said, "older Patriot fans have seen the very bad and know how very different it is now."...Or did you miss that?? Older Patriot fans I think are more appreciative of the incredible success now..they gave lived through the storms...the BULK of the Patriot fans of today..have. not.
