Im sorry but this guy has already played for a few years with our best WR, and hes the best available QB not on a team.

He last played for MIA and the Raiders both teams that were completely and utterly inept squads with very little talent around him.

Coming to NE with the stacked offense he could manage it enough to get us in contention.

If they dont at bring him in than I do agree with the conspiracy folks who think he is basically being black balled.

Cassell barely squeaked us by one of the leagues worst teams..sorry not a fan of a guy who almost didnt make the team. If we dont make this move gimme the rookie any day.

For whatever reason no-one in the NFL seems interested. Our offense is vastly different than what he ran in Minnesota but he has shown he can win with the kind of talent we have.

There's another thread dismissing this idea already....

Nick Saban just called Bill Belichick about Fat Albert... Let him go to Mcdonalds..

I for one am confident in Matt Cassel and our coaching staff.

WE can win games without throwing it 50 yards every other play... I would like to see more balance and ball control, dink and dunk, creative play calling...
It will rally the other players behind Matt, and the coaching staff will really need to show everyone what they are made of...

Would could be worse off, Matt has the best players around him to be successful, he looks liek Brady back there, threw some really strong passes out Sunday. I think we would have seen more points and scores if the play calling would have allowed it, it was a very scared and held back playing calling, where I thought for the times he had to throw, they were all tight and well placed throws...

I know we are a weaker team than last year, from a pure entertainment perspective, last year was boring to watch... this year, it will be really fun watching a young QB grow or not, a team to have to make come backs, and big plays in tough situations to win...

Side Note: Thinking of USC QBs over the past few years... Matt Cassel looks to have the best chance at the best season this year... and he threw a total of 33 completions in College... Matt past even sounds like Brady's

Culpepper just is not that good.

why would we want a QB who cannot make anyone elses team, and has retired.

Lets bring back Bledsoe!!! Lets sign Marino or Montana!!!! Maybe Bart Starr is available. Whats the difference between any of those guys and the equally washed up Culpepper?

Can this be merged with the other "Culpepper" threads.

And would people get a friggin clue and realize that Cassel was NOT the issue during yesterday's game.

Yea all that, but more importantly, did Culpepper ever get his gold chain back.

Caseel did (relatively) great yesterday. I want to see him down 7 and on the road, however, before I have any real confidence in him.

Sorry, it was a stupid in the last thread and a stupid idea now. Culpepper is too dumb for this offense.

Well I expected the typical close minided responses from this board (predictable) but he is the only 31 year old unemployed QB that threw 39tds and almost 5000yds in a season out there.

To not even have him in for a try out seems fishy.

And if people are takign about dumbing down or Offense already for Cassell then why not for culpepper. Im not saying hes the answer but I think his #'s merit a look.

Culpepper would be a disaster on this team. Unbelievably, Fred Smerlas said it best yesterday. Culpepper's game was based on his scrambling ability, speed and ability to throw on the run. Once he lost his speed, he was done as a QB. He's never read a defense in his life and can't learn to be a pocket passer who has to make multiple reads on every play.

Face it - it's Cassel or bust. If he plays the way he did yesterday and they have time to put together a game plan specifically for him, we may just be okay. We still have that easy schedule thing going for us.

I dont want to see that.

go ahead and take culpepper and do what you want w/him -- just keep him away from the pats.
