How do you feel?

heres what I'm thinking: Who is the number 1 pick next year?

now here's what I mean: Cassell looks ok actually pretty good considering. This team is still extreemly strong easily an 11 win team with a little bit of effort. What would an 11 win QB fetch from the likes of SF, TB, MN, and maybe STL? if not a 1st pick at least a 1st rounder

in other words maybe not a SB victory but we may come out of this yet smelling like a fist full of roses

I agree, but the inj he has its now saying a acl and mcl tear, he may not be the same for 2 yrs, and that is 2 prime Moss and Brady yrs gone.. That is what hurts the most.. Not saying brady will not play next yr, but its not going to be the same for 2 yrs..

Its the beggining of the season, but right now it feels like the end, again we will move forward .. Im trying to be positive, 1 week at a time

First Casell is a FA next yr, and lets settle down with until we watch next week against the jets before we annoit Casell, the same person alot of people had cut last week.

Except that Cassel is a FA next year. If he performs well, I expect the Pats to re-sign him. As someone else posted, right now, maybe I'm numb with disbelief, but I feel better.

This team needs some good old fashioned adversity, and they now have it in spades. They can still make the playoffs, despite an improved division, and it's not like the Chargers & Colts are looking like world beaters week 1 either.

It certainly will make for an interesting and memorable year, and that's what sports is all about.

I feel nothing. Just like the superbowl. I watched the superbowl and just sat there feeling numb, the entire time. It didn't even seem like I was watching the Patriots. And now, I feel the same way. Moss has maybe one year left at his peak and then will most likely decline. Who even knows if he'll play at 110% for Cassell? He's probably just as upset as anyone!

I looked forward to today for so long. I took punishment from every Giants fan I know this offseason. I knew that when the season started, things would turn around. This is NOT what I expected, however, it's part of the game. I'm not sure what to think. 8-8? 11-5? Anything could happen.

all true but they fran him and look to trade him
this will all come to pass i saw it in my tears and puke that someone left in my bathroom...who was that????

And I know this is probably dumb because he already has SB rings, records, millions of dollars, a supermodel gf, and a beautiful son; but I really feel bad for Tom. Playing is what he's all about, and he must be ridiculously frustrated.

I feel enormously sorry for him. He's just suffered a serious injury, how can you not? All the money in the world doesn't mean you don't need two good legs to walk on.

The worst I ever felt after watching a football game was the Stingley game. This doesn't come close. It's about on a par with Gale Sayers tearing up his knee against the 49ers back in the 60's.

I didn't even notice Brady was hurt at first. I was watching to see if Moss was going to catch the pass. My GF had her binoculars and saw the hit. That's when I noticed because she yelled "Brady's Down!" I just pray it's not too serious, for his sake.

I agree. Plus I feel bad that he MAY have to miss a year in which to add to his HOF credentials. As a Pats fan I hope for the best that can be expected from tomorrows MRI. From the team standpoint I feel confident that if Brady could do what he has in the last 7-8 years I can only hope Cassel can be half of that. Go Pats!

I felt horrible and thought for sure we had no chance of winning. I'll tell ya what I thought right after. I said to myself that's karma. That's when happens when you and your coach exaggarate a foot injury. You want to pretend you're seriously injured you will get seriously injured. Lest face it. BB only didn't have Brady play during pre season becasue it's just too risky to have a player of Bradys' caliber risking a season ending injury over a pre season game. That's why the league is thinking about getting rid of pre season as a whole. Yes maybe Brady did have a little bity foot injury, but it was highly exaggerated, highly. Now Karma gave him something to be serious about.

Gutted.

I knew about the injury and was keeping track of this place, but I fell asleep in the chair waiting for the Bears @ Colts after the Cowboys had beaten the Browns, and I woke up with about 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. I decided to watch the rest in bed, and after it had finished, one of the guys on TV over here said "no doubt about the big news of the day - Brady gone for the season". I've just legged it back downstairs to read this place and other news sources.

5AM and I'm gutted.

****.

At work today, still feeling the same, will watch board activity today for news....

I feel worse today then I did yesterday. I never thought I could feel worse than I did after the superbowl then yesterday happened. I feel utterly defeated and sick.

Gutted. Everything has been turned upside down. Keep hoping they're going to say 'It's only a sprain out for 4 weeks." Please.

Like most others I have been looking forward to "Redemption" since that awful day in Arizona. To have any realistic prospect of a 14-2 season and a shot at the Superbowl taken away after 5 minutes is mind blowing. However, as Patriot fans we need to get behind Matt and hope he can get us somewhere near the play-offs. Tom must be shattered at losing a season of his career and I just hope he is back next year.

Get well soon Tom...and GO PATS !!

Depressed. This has been a long day.

But not without hope and I'm still excited for the next game.

I really don't understand this post. Karma? For exaggerating a foot injury? What happened yesterday happened because Pollard hit Brady too low, nothing more, nothing less. Is it an unfortunate coincidence that this happened after we all agreed that Cassell was awful in the preseason and should be cut and boy, god help us if Brady ever goes down? Yes. But that's all it is, a really sucky coincidence.

Getting really tired of the "karma" card always being played.

And yes, I feel like crap. I had horrible dreams last night and didn't sleep well. I can't believe that was my first trip to Gillette. Maybe "karma" is telling me to stay away.

I just feel really bad for Tom. It's no stretch to say he's the greatest to have ever played the game, on par with Joe Montana and Unitas.

To see him hurt like this in his prime, not knowing the current extent of the injury or whether he'll ever be the same or able to play again, and watching half or more of the nation getting a sick pleasure out of it all... I just feel an overwhelming sense of burnout. It's hard for me to even be angry or depressed because I'm just so spent from the stress of the past year, NFL and otherwise.

I dunno. I'm just sour on football in general now. I feel like it has sapped me to the point where I need a year off or something.

And I know it won't be popular to say, but I feel that some of the comments about "it's okay, we'll bounce back, let's go team!" are a bit in bad taste at the moment. We can worry about that later, frankly. I don't know if it has truly sunken in for a lot of people or not, but we just watched the GOAT go down, perhaps for good. And with it perhaps the greatest QB-WR combo ever. And for a guy who just loved to play the game and had such a good heart and good head on his shoulders, well...

I'm not religious, but I'm crossing my fingers. Almost as good as prayer, I guess. :(

It was really disapointing that it happened. Just seeing Brady walk down the stairs gave my wife and I hope that it wasn't too serious. By no means is the season over. Now there's a lot of media types, fans, etc saying that the Pats have no chance this season. I think this will be a great (keep in mind, taking a positive from a negative) motivation for the team to rally around. Bring on the Jets!
