Brady's season over after injuring knee vs. Chiefs
Associated Press

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Reigning NFL MVP Tom Brady left Sunday's game against Kansas City after being hit on the left leg, depriving the New England Patriots of the quarterback who last season led them to a 16-0 regular season and their fourth Super Bowl appearance in eight years.

Brady suffered a serious knee injury against the Chiefs that will end his 2008 season, reports NFL Network’s Adam Schefter.

Meanwhile, free-agent quarterback Chris Simms is scheduled to arrive in New England Monday morning for a workout and a physical, Schefter reports. If all goes well, Simms could be a Patriot by the end of the day. Kansas City and Tennessee, each of whom had quarterbacks suffer significant injuries on Sunday, also have contacted Simms.

Brady, who has started 128 consecutive games, went to the turf clutching his left knee midway through the first quarter when he was hit in the pocket by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard. After being tended to on the field, he walked off, limping, between two trainers.

I heard Schefter was just citing the same unnamed sources as everyone else.

I'm still waiting for tomorrow.

We can only pray.

OK, Now we know (sort of).
1. THIS SUCKS if it's true...AND FU Pollard...I hope your team struggles to a 3 and 13 season! 0 and 16 would be even sweeter. I don't care if it wasn't intentional. We might be losing Brady for the season and I'm freakin pissed about it.

2. It's time to move forward...bring on Simms. I doubt that he'll start, but we need to improve our depth at that position anyway.

3. This is NOT A SCRUB TEAM. Yes Brady is the best QB in the game, but Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Jabar Gaffney are not a bunch of scrub WRs.
We have five running backs on this team. None of them are a bunch of scrubs either. McDaniels please use them.
Our defense is not filled with a bunch of scrubs. EVERYBODY will have to step up and do more.

4. BB is the best coach in the league. I have faith in his ability to coach this team with or without Brady.

5. This is some serious ADVERSITY. Let's see what this team is made of. Emphasis on the word TEAM.

Sigh...this has been a crappy day.

Good lord I hope not. Schefter is rarely ever wrong on these situations though.

I'm sure watching it on TV was bad enough, but I had the misfortune of actually being there. I had to get up at 5am, have a flight cancelled, grab another flight that just got there in time, spend oodles of money and all to see that happen not even a few series in.

To say I am disappointed and pissed is an understatement. I am pleased we won the game, but just so angry.

they would rarely put it out there as breaking news if it there wasnt some confirmation to it. iam just hoping it isnt too serious like a 12-18 month injury right now...

1) Its NOT official until its announced by the team. Schefter is guessing just like that idiot at WBZ.

2) Considering that Brady walked off under his own power and that there hasn't been an MRI done yet, AND Brady was holding below his knee, not his knee nor the bacl of his thigh, there can't be 100% certainty what happened to him. Once the MRI is done, then we'll see.

Official or not, it is most likely true. We might as well move on, root for Cassell and the rest of the team and hope they do well against the Jets next week. The Patriots are still a very good team and still have a good chance to have a great season.

I doubt Schefter needs to guess. The NFL office feeds him many of his scoops.

You better believe that with the impact Tom Brady and the Patriots have had on TV ratings in recent years the NFL office has been burning up Mr Kraft's phone since 1:30 this afternoon. The potential financial impact to the NFL's business of losing one of its marquee stars is of major concern for the league.

Adam Schefter predicited his own birth.

I'd love to believe this isn't true but considering the source and the fact that it's on the top of the official NFL website, I think the worst is now official...

Damn this frickin' sucks.

I still think that the Patriots can finish the season at 10-6 or 9-7 and make the playoffs.

Based on what Reiss has said, it's not entirely certain that BB knows for sure--so how does Kraft?

Also, FWIW, Kraft was at the game, and was still there even after Brady left. :) / :(

If BB is telling the team about Trent Green and Drew Bledsoe getting hurt in his postgame talk, I think it is safe to assume he knows it is bad.

talk about a MAJOR bummer.

We were all giddy at the beginning of the day just thinking about starting another great season. Well, the season turned pretty ugly pretty fast. We couldn't get past the first quarter without the season taking a dramatic change for the worst.

on week 1 I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning, and this year it looks like a lump of coal.

Worst consecutive games of all-time.

Worst feeling after a win of all-time.

I hate to admit it, but we need to accept the fact that Brady has a torn ACL and is done for the year. Matt Cassel will be our QB and we can still make the playoffs. We should still win the AFC East. We still have a very talented offense and a very solid defense. This will be the true test to see just how talented BB is and I have all the faith in the world in him.

Any fan who has given up on the season quite frankly disgusts me.

I would just like to point out and will not open another freakin thread on this cause this is as good of place as any!!!!!! WE WON!!! lets go guys lets go pats we own this division we are the big brother with a busted limb we can still kick the crap out of our now bigger yet still younger bros we will survive and strive PATS 08!!!!

I'm sure Giants fans felt the same way last year when Mortensen reported Manning would miss a month with a separated shoulder....
