Let me be the first to formally go on record with my prediction for the SB43 MVP....

Matt Cassel!

When he wins it, I am bumping this thread and you can all pay homage to my vastly superior wisdom!

You've done too much celebrating today? :p:p

Re: Let me be the first....

And if he doesn't I'll bump it. I'm setting a futuremail to remind me to do so now. :D

Re: Let me be the first....

I'm with ya man. The Patriots will still win the Superbowl with Matt Cassel as their QB. We have a solid defense that got a lot younger this year, 3 good RB's and the best WR's in the league. Matt Cassel is going to surprise a lot of people.

This is going to a fun year. Do you people realize just how much it is going to piss everyone off when they see us win the SB even after our HOF QB goes down? Everyone has written us off. I can't wait to see their faces when we keep winning. This could be the most satisfying SB of all.

The best part will be seeing all the fair weather fans jump off the bandwagon. More room for the rest of us to stretch out.

I'm ready for this part. I guess that is the silver lining here...

I think Moss will be the superbowl MVP this year

I couldn't agree more. This team could theoretically go from the best passing team to the best running team now. I must correct you though, we have 4 good Rb's (Maroney, Morris, Faulk and Jordan). Cassel just needs to manage the game and the D will do their job as well.

What are the chances that O'Connell is used to throw a few wrinkles at the opposing D's from time to time, a la Tebow as a freshman at Florida?

Re: Let me be the first....

You guys rock. Tonight I realized what I am. A New England Patriots Fan.
Not just a TB fan. Not a bandwagoner (though I was born there). Not even just fan of the deadliest offense in the NFL. An NEP fan and darn proud of it.

Time to hope the best for TB and to look for the team to win it all in honour of Brady. If he's out for the season, so be it. Let the fields be ripe for the picking as BB unearths another amazing QB (Cassell or O'Connell after some heat) and a boggles minds yet again.

Let's remember this: Cassell didn't come in to keep Tom fresh after the team was winning. He came in and won put those points up (through drives, passes or hand-offs).

Ok, I'm done. Thanks for not giving up, guys.

Re: Let me be the first....

I'm usually right there on the Homer band-wagon chugging my kool-aid, but I can't get too giddy about Cassell winning a super bowl. I do think he'll figure out how to manage the offense fairly effectively and the defense coming together will happen. I'm optimistically hoping for 10 wins and the AFC East, but there is some very tough competition out there that has become much more formidable without the best QB in the league counting the snap. I hope you guys are right, but if BRady really is done for the year, then my expectations are solely on beating the teams I hate(SD, Indy, Broncos, Jets) and not allowing the Jets to make the playoffs. Anything else is gravy.

you, my friend, are completely delusional. Pats are going to be in a dog fight in this division with the Bills and Jets. Hoepfully they make the playoffs and Brady makes a miraculous comeback for the playoffs. Its the only way they will win the SB this year. Not jumping off the bandwagon, just realistic. There is a HUGE drop off from Brady to Cassel. About 4 losses worth.

4 losses? So that makes us 12-4. We will still win the division by 4 games and have a first round bye.

4 losses more than Brady. I think 10-6 is more realistic.

Nah, WW for sure. :D

And for the negative Nancys out there. There are still a few good players that did not get injured. We'll be picking up a QB in the next day or so (probably Simms), and life will march on. We still have a pretty easy schedule, and we are still better then the Bills, Jets and Fins (even without Brady).

No obviously got hurt, but the year ain't over.
