Moss does not need the media's permission to speak freely. He especially does not need ESPN's opinion. This is the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

It's not an espn link, it's Reiss.

I personally don't think it's a dirty play, i think it's a fluke. Everyone is emotional, including Moss who knows his play is going to be affected big time by this. But the guy was on the ground trying to make a play with Morris on his back. What was he supposed to do? Lay down and take it with brady still holding the ball?

I think a defender's first instinct is to gethe QB down to the ground. So it was all instinct, but after watching the play over and over again, it looks like he dove for Brady's leg....don'tthink he meant to hurt him, but you don't attck someones legs. I have to agree with Randy Moss somewhat on this, it was not a "clean" play.

I have always found Brady to be a media darling (not far from Favre or Manning). I think the media dislikes BB due to his lack of disclosure, but no Brady.

I may indeed be blind, but I've seen Bruschi and Vrabel crawling and fighting to get to the QB while on the ground. I would not call the hit malicious, illegal yes, but Pollard did not try to injure Tommy. He should receive the same fine Wilfork got, and I hope the officials get their noses rubbed in that no-call.

What I've asked myself a hundred times today, was this: Was Brady's injury the result of a typical or atypical contact to a quarterback.

The only thing I can come up with is that despite the arguments here that the player was only "reacting to the play" and was not intentionally going for a players knee......There is not one football player in the NFL who reacts "typically" by driving his shoulder into a players knee without the full sense of that it may possibly end a players career.

In front of cameras, a lot of players will defend Pollards hit on Brady as unlucky, but I would say that undoubtedly, behind closed doors, that the majority of players would say that Pollard should not have dived for Brady's knee in that situation. Intentional or unintentional, Pollard's hit on Brady was clearly dirty and anyone who suits up to play football knows that putting your head or shoulder into another players knees is willingly attempting to hurt someone in order to win a game.

I just finished watching the game on TiVO (I work Sundays)
Pollard is the same player who just before the hit on Brady hit Maroney low and flip him over. He could have hit Maroney above the knees but went low from fear or whatever.

On the Brady play one of the views shows him getting up from the ground and if he kept going up he would have hit Brady mid thigh. But he did the same thing he did to Maroney and intentionally went down. You can easily see the change in direction from coming up to diving down.
I doubt he feared hitting a quaterback throwing

I agree with Randy ... this was a malicious dirty play!

The guy clearly grabbed Tom's ankle so it couldn't move and smashed his
helmet into the side of his leg. It was intentional, deliberate and
meant to severely injure Tom. Once he had Tom's ankle pinned he plunged
his helmet into his leg and the look on his face was ferocious.
I agree with Randy on this.

He lunged from his hands and knees at Brady's legs. I say it's absolutely dirty, though I don't believe he did it with intent to seriously injure Brady.

another thing .... these guys know how to create a severe injury.
Tom has been the target for some time and there are probably
several dim wits out there looking to get the reputation of knocking
Tom out the game by injury.

The REASON why it was a DIRTY play is this:

Pollard was already on the ground, his helmet and body had missed bradys legs and body but made the attempt to grab at Brady's feet and pull it towards him causing brady to not be able to do a natural follow through.

That is why the hit was dirty. Would pollard even get a sack out of it or a tackle on the stat sheet for that hit? if no, then why even bother doing it? it just increases the chance that the QB might get hurt. If pollard made direct contact while following though and falling down then it wouldnt be a dirty hit, but the fact that he missed brady's leg and grabbed at his feet and pulled it in towards him.

what was pollard trying to do? UFC ankle lock?

the rules are very clear as of last year the league made it very clear (CARSON PALMER RULE) that there is no hitting of the QB below the knee. The video does not lie he went for the knee after sammy morris owned him on blitz pick up.
