It seems if PATS play like the preseason, KC will gash them for big gains
in the run game. Most think the preseason was not a good measure of
PATs being able to stop the run.

Any one think PATs will keep KC to less than 100 yds?
Less than 150?

Whats your gut say?

I think it all depends on what our offense does. If We can jump out to an early lead and take the ball out of LJ's hands, we should be fine. If not, he can and likely will carve us up.

To ALL:

CAN KC RUN ON OUR FRONT 7 IN A BASE 3-4? HUuuuge Question... Although I liked the whole Idea of it at the Time, When Lynch came in as a Hybrid-Safety Linebacker (IMO, BB's new scheme to add more speed in the progressively quicker, pass-happy culture that He believes the NFL is going towards)-for a long series in pre-season, the results were debatable in the running game (think I read by Mike Reiss that when Tampa saw this, they called and churned out 8 Run Plays in a row... I'd rather see what our Base 3-4 can do with our new-found (and "newbie) depth at LB and our front 3 finally ALL together, happy and healthy again (i.e. read: Richard Seymour)... Therefore, IMHO, IF Kansas City CAN Run on Us, We Might have some problems...

The Pats have always been able to take away a teams strengths over the years. Down to 3 receivers, the Chiefs have only 1 strength and that's their run game (not that the passing game could be considered a strength even at full capacity). I don't think we'll see 100 yards from the Chiefs today.

Even though we saw him on quite a few preseason plays Mayo is the big question mark, looked ok in preseason during vanilla time.. how well will he do today?? No reason to believe he will not be a force, but has to show it.

With KC only bringing 3 WR's to the table I'm sure they'll try and exploit that preseason weakness we showed, but I'm not sold on the accuracy of our preseason performance to begin with. I think KC will definitely try but they won't succeed everytime. This will be a good tune up opponent for stopping the run, so 75 yds with a disclaimer that I'm not so good at predicting stats

The Chiefs will get their yards, but i can't think of a better game for Jerod Mayo to get his feet wet and stick his helmet in there. Larry Johnson? Welcome to the NFL, Jerod.:D

I think you're selling Dwayne Bowe a little short. He is a stud, make no mistake about it. He could cause some issues for us this afternoon. Plus Gonzo acts as basically a third WR in the Chiefs offense, so you cant discount his impact in the passing game. They are no powerhouse through the air, but the players they will be running out this afternoon, could pose some problems for our suspect secondary. The front 3 are going to have to get pressure on Croyle early and often. He can be pretty mobile, but he gets wild with his throws when the heat gets turned up.

That's part of my reasoning. The Chiefs are starting a rookie left tackle and I don't think the front 3 will have a problem. As you say, Croyle throws wild when the heats on. I agree, Bowe is good but with a QB that's throwing wild he won't have much of an impact.

...do it for the Reader, so they can get jist of My point by scrolling through a lengthy diatribe...:)

Haha, I always try to put the bolded words in order in case you're trying to send out a hidden message or something :D

As for the run defense, I saw a definite improvement in the last two preseason games. Tampa killed us, but we looked a lot more solid against the Eagles and Giants. The numbers may not bear that out, but consider both of those teams have great running games, and I tend to look at appearance over results in preseason.

I still think the Chiefs will have success running, but if they get over 150 yards I would be surprised and a little concerned.

...been doing it for 5 years, but I'll definately mediate if HARDER for Reader concensus, and stick to Numbers and Proper Nouns (Teams, Players, Stats boldened)...

STILL want to know what People thought of the hybrid-Linebacker thing... I had high hopes for it at first.

Well if they do try to test the run defense they'll be running straight at our perceived strength. Seriously, if there's a question mark on defense it's the weak and untested secondary. There aren't many out there that say the front 7 is anything but above average and I'd even classify them as elite. To run straight at Seymour, Wilfork and company is to lose a football game.

Down to three wide receivers is not a big deal. The question is which receivers are down.

I don't expect many, if any, catches by our #4 and #5 WR today or on any day. With Watson and Faulk out, we could have some, but catches by the #4 and #5 is certainly not a reason to expect a passing game to fail.
