I just can't take it anymore. I watch New England Sports Tonight because of Tanguay, but just want to punch that smarmy Felger tool in the mouth. He is like a jilted, skanky ex-girlfriend who just resorts to any, and every tactic possible to slam you. It's embarrassing really. I deem his new name to be Ron Borges Jr.

What a complete waste of a job...

I have to agree
I saw him at training camp, what a tool:banned:

It's his opinion. Last I knew everyone has some and some of them stink. So
what! If you suspect, as I think you do, that he is trying to get your panties
in a bunch, GUESS WHAT? He succeeded and you failed! I kind of like his
contrarian view. It gives a lot of people great ammo to trash him but some
of his points are easily as valid as others taking the opposite position. Unlike
Borges, who I believed to be the devil reincarnate, Felger is entertaining in a
kind of irritating way. Not enough for me not to listen to what he has to say.
(I love his conspiracy and area 51 type theories the best!) :D

The Boston Patriot, is that you Felgie???
FYI dude, bad aftershave.... someone had to tell ya

Felger is the most valuable anchor on NEST. Look at how upset you guys are. Starting threads about him on a random forum, and fuming over what he says. You will all tune in to see what the idiot will say next, and their cume numbers will go up.

That = more money from the sponsers, and more money for the network. Stop taking the bait! Advertisers don't care about content, they care about numbers....Felger makes their numbers go up! I would think they see a healthy spike in rating points, everytime he says something crazy about the pats.I can picture NE fans yelling at the tv in disgust, directly before the commerical break (where company x payed a premium to reach you). If you really hate Felger, dont watch NEST.

You like a guy who mines data looking for the negative? Why ever for?

Tonight he gave the preseason stats. Said the Pats were outscored whatever to whatever in hte first quarter. It was really bad and it was a true statement. But he worked to get the worse possible case. He would never, for instance, say that the Pats outscored preseason opponents by 44 to hardly nothing in hte 4th quarter. Why not? Because that wouldn't fit his agenda.

He isn't interested in reporting the news. He wants to make the news - the "news" that the Pats suck - and will deceive listeners to get his agenda across.

It isn't a big deal. The Pats really were bad in the preseason. But it shows the effort he will go to to twist facts to paint the pats in a bad light.

You "kind of like" him doing that, and it is your right. If fact, most of the country agrees with you. Pats haters abound these days, and love to hear crap like that. Few Pats fans like it, though.

Felcher is from Indy....next question

Sonny, I've been a Pats fan longer than you've been alive. If you don't like what
people say about the team, don't listen. If you care to listen then I will assume
you are able to evaluate what you are hearing and adjust accordingly. If not,
then I advise you never to listen to alternative points of view. You will just
continue to get your panties in a bunch.

You watch a show because of Tanguay??? Enough said...

Actually I seldom catch NEST (which btw owes it's continued existence/reincarnation on Comcast to the Celtics run) but caught it last night and I think Felger has taken note of his critics to some extent and ratcheted down the shrill contrarian just a tad as he re-invents himself as a WEEI blogger and guest host... Spending more time at Gillette now that he doesn't have his own radio show to front has taken the edge off his douchiness. He has to be able to get interviews and finagle some modicom of access or he'll be useless to his latest employers. They hired Borges for opinion but Felger to cover a beat... his interview with Vrabel last night lacked the trying to bait you edge that had Vrabes ready to clock him by the end of his failed ESPN radio gig.

That was what I was thinking. Tanguay is horrible - such a chicken little that he (along with Gresh) make the BCN pregame and postgame unlistenable. There are few people in the Boston media worse.

I agree with Your point but disagree on Your comparison.Felger is closer to being The Skip Bayless of Boston Sports than Ron Borges.Remember, there was a time when Ron Borges was a good reporter but Felger never had a time like that.Felger only speaks to make noise and never has much to say.

That's simply not true. There was a time when Michael was the best football beat reporter in Boston. Until his nose got out of joint (over Holley's book deal and resulting WEEI gig)and he came to believe that only the squeaky (shrill obnoxious) wheel gets noticed quickly enough to get ahead without writing a freakin' bestseller...

I must say that at this moment I am seeing a slight but perceptable modification in attitudes among some of the recently, however briefly unemployed... Striking out on your own show and having to depend on the good old boy network for sufficient employment to remain in this market and feed your family will do that to you. Felger and Gresh are toning their acts down because the alternative didn't pan out as planned career path wise. Zolak however seems to be struggling with that concept depending on venue...

All 3 got fat on a big slice of a small pie. Suddenly the pie is expanding but the slices are increasingly smaller because more hungry mediots are lining up for theirs and the FSNE crew are finding themselves having to re-position if not re-invent themselves and hustle to snatch any pie crumbs at all...

Why would any take what any of these guys say as gospel, good or bad. They all get paid so there goes credibility. Felger knows more about football than most of them, he's just currently cast in the bad cop role.

Agree on the Skip Bayless comparison but strongly disagree on the highlghted portion.

Looks like you are not aware of his coverage back in 2000-01 when he was among the handful of local reporters who mocked on live TV the elite BG reporters at that time when the BG guys were disparaging the Pats for everything.

I was very impressed by the support and the confidence Felger showed in not being afraid to ridicule the other reporters for the negative coverage and the way he articulated all the positive steps that young Brady and the Pats had done during all those wins dismissed by many as flukes.

I moved from Boston in 2002 and so couldn't keep track of what exactly happened to him after that. Needless to say, after reading all his comments and actions as reported on this forum, it is a sad turn of events.

See here's the irony - Felger can be a pain and sometimes the things he says are just plain dumb and unsupportable, but he always talks football, which I like, and I can stomach him WAY MORE than I can stomach Gary Tanguay.

Have you ever heard Tanguay and Gresh on the post-game show? Can't stand either of their voices or their delivery, and they shout down practically everyone who calls in. Yuck. Pete Sheppard and Fred Smerlas are much more "listenable" on the Real Post Game Show.

I know I'm in the minority, but I just don't mind Felger that much. A chicken little who deep down I think really loves the Pats. Go ahead, flame away!

So, so true. I didn't see this post before I posted above. I'll take Felger any day over Tanguay or Gresh.

I'll give the throwback Felgie another chance. He did start out decent before his contrarian makeover. But once again, with all the potential employees available why excellent managers like Bob & Jonathan Kraft condone the really LOUSY radio post game crew is totally beyond me.

Wassupwifdat?

I don't have any use for any of them. I don't watch, read or listen to any of their garbage. I only know about it from reading this board. Some of you are gluttons for punishment. :)
I'm not a fan of the media these days. I don't read the Herald. ESPN is on boycott and has been for the last three years. I don't need to listen to these idiots to form opinions about my team whether bad or good. I'll trust my own eye sight...thank you very much. ;)
There are some media that I do like, but not that many.

He is "smarmy"(dont know if I got the spelling), good word. I dont like him but one thing he is--intelligent. He gets that he is in the entertainment business and if you are smart and hard working you can take any side of an arguement and try to win it. The skill is creating the arguement to begin with. I dont like seeing him in that stupid sports coat on those TV spots, but I listened to him a couple mornings on WEEI and he ran circles around the guy he was on with. He often carries the wrong message, but I dont think he cares at all about the result other than ratings....and $$. If he were an athlete he would be Chad Ocho Cinco, but that doesnt take away from what kind of job he does. Remember Howard Stern? He made a living saying things most people wouldnt.....
