Is it Hochstein or Yates and who do you prefer?

From what I've seen I'd prefer Hochstein, but I don't know how healthy he will be.

yeah I was thinkin the same thing 2 be honest...

I would prefer that Kaczur start at RG, and Britt start at RT.

Thinking of either Hoch or Yates trying to open holes & protect the QB gives me nausea. What a mess.

My RG will be on the field playing LT for KC. Call me crazy, but I still like the idea of having Albert and Seau over Mayo.....time will tell.

You would move two players out of their natural positions, and have no gameday backup OT. Yes, that would be a mess.

Instead, I suggest that Belichick and Dante have respected Hochstein and Yates for years as backups at RG. They also like Kaczur at RT (or backup LT). I suspect Dante will give us the same OL as last year after Neal comes back, and one of our veteran backup RG's from the last two years to fill in until he's back. And yes, Flynn will be brought in to replace backup O'Callaghan. This is a mess only for those who consider the 2007 line a weakness, as you do.

Hochstein can't block Warren Sapp's grandmother. Yates inspires no confidence with me.

I prefer someone better than both of them, but given the choice between substandard and crappy, I'll choose Russ.

It's not the '07 OL, but the '08 OL that I consider a weakness. Besides, isn't LeVoir the backup OT now?

And in the 2009 NFL Draft, with the 32nd pick of round 1, the New England Patriots select Offensive Tackle.....

I think..against KC...whoever is healthier.

dangerous attitude. Even the worst defensive lineman in the league could end Brady's season pretty easily.

But yes, you are right, whoever is healthier. don't want to run out nicked up guys that could aggrevate something that would otherwise be healed in a few weeks.

...Ciron Black of LSU according to one mock draft site.

I think the line will be OK once Neal comes back. They had a couple of not so good games last year and those were against a very good pass rush in the Giants. I'd be surprised if the Pats get caught out that badly again.

Seau may be toast.

The OL, though not deep, is relatively young. We don't need a rookie long term solution yet, though I expect we'll address it in the first three rounds of the 2009 draft.

I know we don't draft purely on need, but Mayo was a MUCH needed addition to this defense. I think he is going to give us an immediate jolt.

Even with Mayo, we may need help inside. Seau may need to be brought in, even with Mayo. I don't even want to think about the defense with Seau instead of Mayo.

Lets broaden the question if you don't mind. He can assume that no one of John Hannah's caliber will be playing RG, so how do the Pats protect?

3 step drops? 5 step drops? running the ball? RBs chipping defenders? leaving TEs to block? Spreading them out?

Not much excitement in tomorrows game, this is at least one area to watch.

All of the above, plus I would ban 7-step drops from the playbook.

Time will tell, indeed. Let's keep track and see who gets more tackles, sacks, etc in the next 5 years, Mayo or Seau.
