Michel Turner moved on to the Falcons. The Chargers had Marcus Thomas, but tried to stash him on the PS, only to have the Lions take him. That leaves them with just Darren Sproles as their reserve RB. Don't get me wrong. I like Sproles, but the Chargers will be hurting if LT goes down.

Unless they bring in Tatum "Don't cut me or I'll steal your bags" Bell or get really desperate and bring in Shaun Alexander.

Both the Chargers and the Patriots are in trouble if their main offensive stars go down. I would say that Brady would be tougher to replace than LT.

You're forgetting they have Jacob Hester, the power back from LSU.

Nope.. Didn't forget him. They have him listed as a FB on their depth chart.

If he's actually their back-up RB, then so be it...

According to everyone and their mother on the Chargers forum, he is their back-up RB.

I've yet to meet a Chargers fan on any board who actually knows football... *shrug* Just saying what the CHARGERS have listed on their depth chart.

I don't think RB is a concern for the Chargers, if LdT goes down they are in no worse shape than the majority of NFL teams if their starter were to go down. Probably one of the last weaknesses I'd point out on the Chargers.

Listen. I know you can't stay on topic, but this was about who the Back-up RB is for the Chargers. NOT who would be tougher to replace. Damn, why do you ignorant SD fans insist on trolling?
Obviously, I was on topic, which was the Chargers would be hurting if LT (the Chargers main offensive star) goes down and who would replace him. I simply expanded it to include the Patriots and Brady and compared the relative toughness to replace. I don't get the bitterness.

How could you have been on topic when the topic was NOT who would be tougher to replace, Brady or Tomlinson. The topic was who is considered the Chargers back-up behind Tomlinson. Two distinctly different topics. I'm sorry that you don't comprehend that.

The "bitterness" is actually antipathy towards people like yourself who try to turn the topic of the thread to something it wasn't. But, you've been a horrible poster like that since day one.

If Tomlinson were to miss any extensive time, I would assume the Chargers would just rotate between Sproles and Hester for carries.

The topic, as I stated, was that the Chargers would be hurting if LT would go down and who would replace him. I simply stated that it would be tough for the Chargers AND the Patriots if their main offensive stars went down. That's on topic my friend.

I could say some really bitter things here but I choose not to.

Well, we are all entitled to our opinions. Have a nice day.

But the sales for LdT's "Down and Pout" inaction figure would skyrocket...

Getting to the point of your thread, if LT were to go down, it would be a split between Sproles and Hester. Hester looks to be used more as a RB than FB since we have an UDFA at FB that we really like - Mike Tolbert.

I'm assuming this is what would happen. Wouldn't be nearly as effective as LT -- esp. considering telegraph the play in one-back sets -- but it would get the job done. Unfortuantely for SD, if one gets hurt I don't think either is a full-time back.

This is why I'm so glad NE signed Lamont; they'd have been in same situation with Faulk & Evans if Maroney & Morris went down, but now they have a legit full-time RB for emergencies.

Sproles probably isn't made to be a full-time RB but is a great change of pace back. Hester is supposed to be pretty versatile, so no telegraphing when he's in. Also, our FB Tolbert, could be used at RB and is showing some all around skills too.

I would say your plays are a lot more limited with Hester in there. I like the kid, but let's just say he is not a "five tool player." I guarantee you there are many plays in your playbook that LT or Sproles can run that they simply can't/won't run with Hester.

Darren Sproles is a serviceable back and they're very high on Hester. Would certainly take something away, but from what my co-worker says (HUGE Charger's fan -- and not stupid), they'd remain dangerous. I think this argument can be applied to most teams in the NFL. Take away the best player and where does it leave them? You're talking about one of the best RB's in the game, let alone on the Chargers.

Yes, just like if Brady were to go down, you probably wouldn't run the same plays with Cassel...but I don't want to be accused of getting off topic. Just saying that with Hester in, we wouldn't be telegraphing whether we were about to run or pass...it appears he can run, block, and catch just fine.
