Any MMA fans have any thoughts on this? Should be pretty awesome, both are from wrestling backgrounds. But there is also the great story of Lesnar's raw power but inexperience versus Randy's cagey veteran-ness and underdog size. This should be a pretty awesome fight.

Predictions?

Finally, someone who is interested in MMA.

I think Couture is goin to win. Even with Lesnar's crazy power and Randy's old age I don't think It will matter. Lesnar doesn't deserve this fight right now but White is smart and will make a lot of money by throwing Lesnar into the fight.

I can see Lesnar upsetting Couture to be honest, he's a better wrestler and is stronger. I think Couture will probably tko him though via GnP or some nice dirty boxing. I also don't want to see Couture go down cuz that'll take away some of the mystique of the Fedor fight (if it ever actually happens).

Has Lesnar really earned the opportunity for a title bout? There is no way that Lesnar beats Coutoure in my opinion.

I am disappointed that Coutour is headed back to the UFC but maybe this is just the first step in getting out of his contract with the UFC. I have heard no mention of his lawsuit during the announcement that Randy with fight Lesnar.

I am dying to see a Fedor/Coutour fight before Randy is just too old.

Last time I saw Lesnar he dominated but got caught out with an arm bar and tapped. He's just a bruiser, a big ape. Randy's one of the smartest in the game with his experience, Lesnars still green in that sport regardless of his background so I'd fancy Couture.

True, but don't forget Brock was an NCAA wrestling champ. The guy may have been a prowrestler, but he's no meathead. You're about Randy's experience though, and I think that will make the difference. But, as Wildo said, I can see Brock upsetting Randy based on his raw power and wrestling ability. I think it's more likely however that Randy will outwrestle him or maybe catch him in a submission (though Randy's much more inclined to ground and pound).

Whiskeybreath, I'm more than interested in MMA. I train in it and watch it whenever it's on - I love it.

I was wrong there I think. It was a knee bar or some type of lock on his leg he got caught with. In the UFC I think he's relied more on physical domination hasn't he than actual technical stuff. Obviously I respect his background but he tends to fly out the traps and just and get it done and thats where I think he'll slip up, especially against somebody so seasoned.

I think you're referring to the Frank Mir fight. Mir is an experienced guy, and a submissions expert. That leg lock that Brock was caught in was something that greener fighters are open too. Before that though, Brock was hammering Mir pretty good. But you're right, he does fly out at the bell; and any mistake he makes Couture will certainly capitalize on.

Not really, but he's a big name. Couture wants to fight new challengers, and Lesnar is there. You're right, he hasn't really earned it, but the business side of Dana can't resist this, especially if it meant Randy returning to fight.

Yeah, thats the one :D As you can tell, I'm not a hardcore fan but I try to watch when I can.

If you like it, check out the WEC on the VS. Channel. It's owned by the UFC, but features a lot of the lighter weightclasses. They're so fast and techincal, it's incredible. And there's a fighter there named Urijah Faber, and he's pound-for-pound one of the best in the world right now. Just dominating.

Awesome. How long have you been at it? Where are you training out of?

Been training probably almost 3.5 years. I train with a few friends in a private basement. Nothing super-formal, but we know a good amount of stuff. If I were to take a fight, I would definitely augment this regimen with help from an MMA gym however.

I wouldn't say all over the place. Brock's been training in MMA for a few years now, though you're right, he doesn't have much actual fight experience. The guy's a world-class wrestler. But Randy is a force of nature, so I can definitely see the smart money being on him. Sanchez is a great fighter. The last year or so he's had some injury problems, but his ability in the cage and his killer instinct are something to behold. Any MMA fan should look up fights of Urijah Faber in WEC. That guy's dominating.

Don't think I can get that channel here chief, or is it available online? I'll try looking for his fights on youtube and stuff anyways..

I get Vs. with Direct TV and Metrocast Cablevision. You might be able to watch WEC online, I'm not sure. Great stuff if you can find it though.

It's finally here. Gonna be a good card.

Justin Hazeland is why I want to learn the rubber guard
