Boiling it down for you, Drew says the Eagles got an offer for Lito Sheppard within the past few weeks, and he still expects Lito to be traded shortly.

"At least one team has made a recent trade proposal to the Eagles," Rosenhaus wrote in an e-mail. "The Eagles didn't like the compensation and turned it down. I will not identify the team at this time. I think there is a very good chance Lito gets traded in the next few weeks."

Any speculation on who the team might be? (Not insinuating it's us, just a topic of discussion)

Well the Jets wanted Lynch so they are looking for some help back there,I am sure Lito is on their radar

Can you imagine Lito and Revis? - I would worry about that combo

New Jersey is 1.6M under the cap.Neither Lito Shepherd or Ty Law would play for anything near the vet minimum.

Lito makes about 5M AND is looking for a new deal.

Never going to happen....even Ratgini isn't
this stupid.

Amazingly similar stats.........I am just saying, we could pay Lito much less than Asante for the same production.

Yep, almost the same, pretty damn close. The biggest difference is Samuel hit free agency after two monster seasons.

If I had my choice (money aside) I would take Samuel, he is on the rise, knows the system and has excellent post-season stats.

Lito would have been a good fit here but without some maneuvering I don't think the Pats could fit him under the cap. I was really hoping they would extend Wilfork before the season started but alas this most wait...

In the next few weeks? Asante has had some injury concerns lately I think so why would they do that?

I have been hearing Lito would get traded for the last several months. They are likely going to wait and see if anyone loses a corner early this season and is desperate enough to trade too much.Philly would still prefer a WR in return I believe.

darn we let go of our major trading bait:D

ESPN Radio confirmed its the Browns trying to aquire him.

They offered picks in next years draft and an unnamed player but the Eagles did not like the offer and declined.

I wonder who since the Eagles NEED WR help. And good receivers.

Sounds like they are asking for too much. Not everyone is going to give up too much like the Skins did for Taylor.

What's funny is, if we DID trade for Lito, I bet all the experts would flip-flop and suddenly say how great our secondary is because it added a "name" player.

The team most likely to trade for Lito is one that is convinced that it is a playoff contender that just needs a little help on defense to put themselves 'over the top'; the Saints and Browns are the first two teams that fit that description in my opinion. I have a feeling that the Eagles have been counting on somebody's CB going on IR and being willing to overpay for Shepperd; otherwise they would have traded him long ago.

I would take Samuel, he is on the rise, knows the system and has excellent post-season stats.

Samuel has a big black mark on his resume, dropped the game winning INT in SB 42 and then fled to Philly faster than you can say 60 million.

Means nothing. No coach who knows what he is doing, is going to hold one bad play against a fantastic player. Samuel went to Philly to make a ton of cash....and he has every right to do so. The guy worked very hard, and he deserves to get paid if he wants to. We all know if you helped your work team win your industries biggest award, and then a different company offered you a massive pay increase, you woudlent do it

what makes you so sure Lito would be looking for much less???

because he is under contract now he wont get it but that doesn't mean he wouldn't insist and his demands could ruin a trade.

also maybe he isnt looking for close to asante money but maybe it is still too high.

How much cap space do the Pats have? With some creative contract structuring, they might be able to fit Lito in under the cap this year.

Not sure we need him now... depends on how good O'Neal still is. If O'Neal plays like he used to at some point this season, we actually have pretty good CB's (Hobbs, O'Neal, Wheatley, Wilhite, L. Sanders). If we pick up Lito, then we'd be set.
