A mystery team is a team which you really have NOT a clue on whether they will be good or not

We all know NE,Dallas,Indy and the Chargers will be contenders barring any unforseen circumstances and there are many other teams we know are going to be simply bad like Atlanta and Miami.

So with that said,Who is the team you do not have any idea of what they will do this upcoming season?

I go with the Rams who I think have potential to be a very strong offense but the defense is a question mark thus I do not have any idea if they will turn last season around and become good or stay in mediocrity -
They are my mystery team -
Yours?

I'll say the New Orleans Saints. I picked them to face us last season in Arizona & I was made to look foolish. They've added Shockey & now have Meachem healthy so like the Rams there offense should be excellent, but defensively they've got some work to do.

Denver. Great coach, young QB with loads of potential.

Cleveland. Can't figure out if Derek Anderson is the real deal or just a one-year wonder.

Regards,
Chris

Houston Texans. If Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub stay healthy they can do some damage. Tough division though.

I think Cleveland will take a step back, Denver a couple(now that Shanny is in charge of EVERYTHING), but I think NO might be the most improved team. My sleeper has got to be the Cardinals.....every year someone picks them but the difference this year is that they have settled on Warner EARLY this year. He put up Brady-like numbers when he was in last year, he doesnt get nearly enough credit.

Im going with Cleveland (although Im not sure Anderson can throw 29 TD's again this year).

Remember this is not a 'SLEEPER' pick question like I believe some of you are thinking here..

It is about 'what team do you really have no idea if they will be good or will suck' -

It's not a sleeper team question, that was posted 2 months ago

The Bills...I haven't heard anything about them.

I'm not getting the distinction, define "sleeper" then. Other than the elite teams, how could any other team not be considered a sleeper?

A sleeper is a team you think has potential to be one of those teams that just may sneak in and have a great season that no one really mentions
- A mystery team is a team where you say "I do not know whether they will be 3-13 or 10-6" - A mystery team is one thats hard to gauge

Gotta go with the Jets on this. One season they go 10-6 and last year they flat out suck. They supposedly bring in some key signings with a touted draft pick and now one of the most over-rated QB's(IMO) and it's hard to gauge as to where they'll be. I'm predicting a 6-10 season for them, but then again they could go 11-5.

My pick is the NYG. offensively and defensively they are a mystery.

Offense: Is the playoffs version of Eli the one that will be on display during the upcoming regular season? Or is the real Eli the one from the 2007 regular season?

Defense: What will be the impact of Strahan's and Umenyora's absence? Is the defensive coordinator's talents and schemes sufficient to use the players he has to be successful? Did the Giants defense rely on an abundance of talent from Strahan and Umenyora?

So my Houston Texans pick qualifies. I honestly don't know whether they will be good or bad.

How about the Redskins. They have a new coach, a new offensive system, a quarterback with potential but who may be facing a make-or-break year, some new faces of defense, alot of old players, plenty of young talent at the skill positions. They could go deep in the playoffs or they could wind up losing 10+ games.

The Skins were my next Mystery team after the Rams

They have 2 quarterbacks who are capable of winning and have Taylor as an outside force now

Jim Zorn maybe the biggest mystery as New HC as I have not a clue on how he will do

I love this question. It's easy to say the Chiefs will stink and the Cowboys will be great. But what about the Redskins? They were a playoff team a year ago, but with a new coach, how will they fare in 2008? I haven't a clue.

Then there's the Panthers. I've seen them picked for 1st in 2008, but last year they were 7-9, and they've lost a lot of beef (Rucker and Jenkins) off that D-Line. Delhomme is back, but will he stay healthy? They're a mystery.

I think the biggest mystery of all is the Pack. Does anyone really know if Rodgers can lead an NFL offense?

The raiders, they have one lockdown corner and another pretty good one, and they can depend on their defense for a lot. I don't think they're contenders, but they could sneak in and will definitely be spoilers for someone. Of course, that clubhouse is still filled with head cases and is owned by al davis, so the sky is the limit in terms of what can be screwed up.

Like mystery meat.:D

My pick is the Jets. Will Favre be good or not and will he live up expectations or muck up? Will they win more than 4 games? Get back to the playoffs as a wildcard? Will the offseason signings work out? Will Mangini and Bill B. have more icy moments?

Mystery meat central for the Jets here.

For me it's the Lions. They started out last year like a house on fire and then...poof. So what team shows up this year? Anybody's guess.
