I hope the mods don't mind me posting this in here, but I know most of the posters and figure I could get a better feel for their opinion as opposed to someone random. Anyhow, I'm going to buy an HDTV, and am totally consfused as to which model to go for. I've kinda narrowed it down to a 52" Sony XBR4, or a Samsung LN-T5271f. Anyone in here know those two models, or have an HDTV from either manufacturer? I've decided on LCD over Plasma because of the window exposure in the room I'll be using the TV in. Also, I really like the pop of the LCD screens. They're brighter, and more vivid. Of course, the Plasma is a better cost value, and they don't have the motion issues that LCD's do. At any rate, can anyone offer me some advice?

got a 42" vizio lcd and i am very happy with it. hd is very clear. it is only 720p for cable but upscales to 1080i for COD4 on my ps3. if you go over 42" you may want to go with the 1080p. the vizio was 850 at walmart. no complaints whatsoever.

It's sad that our youth are making the decisions they are today, 1 out of 4 teenage girls have an HGTV... it's crazy!

As long as you don't get any Sony SXRD TV, I have one and they have lots of problems with discoloration. I'm just about to start the runaround with service to hopefully eventually get a new set (they need to fix it 4 times in a year to qualify for a new one). Mine is actually very minimally discolored, if you weren't looking for it you might not notice, but I do and it pisses me off.
I'm going for an LCD next time around, the black levels and image tailing have supposedly gotten tons better in the last couple of years. |

Friends tell me the HDTVs really suck up the electricity especially the plasma screens. Any feedback on this, guys?

Look at this picture ( it is NOT my house) http://www.808reno.com/imgs/home-theatre-reno-01.jpg The reason i am showing you this pic , because it is the same light intensity in our living room , Use differents source of light to create that atmosphere , it is good for watching movies /tvs without being in total dark. Samsung lcd has a special game function , so when you play the ps3 , you switch it "on" .
