Didn't hear about the SUVs and "global cooling" -- though I *do* remember in the 70s the white coat crowd in academia were all crying the sky was falling over "climate change", only then it was going to be global "cooling". Go figure. I did read yesterday that the recent "quietness" on the sun over the past few years is now a harbinger of "cooler climes" coming our way. (Will these "experts" EVER get it right???? )I look at it this way: the earth has been hotter before now, by a BIG degree, and it has been colder than it is now, with Ice Ages and such. We are currently in the middle temperatures of the earth's history of "climate CHANGES", so we do not control it much, if at all; it just happens. Now, if you ask: should we be more careful about using fossil fuels and doing other things that damage the air quality, I would say: most definitely, "YES", purely from a conservationist and naturalist point of view. If we don't have to pollute air/water/earth to live well, then why pollute??? We absolutely should not. //

I know you're being factitious, but Obama hasn't got a clue. I liked him at first, but he really is not ready for prime time. "Change"??? What kind of change, brother?? He doesn't even know himself; or if he does, he's afraid to spell out his plans. No, someone else has got to lead America at this critical time. And I DON'T mean Hillarity and Bill. That boat left the docks 8 years ago, and it doesn't need to return. We don't need any more interns getting seduced or any national security advisors stealing top secret government documents. We don't need to be giving away any more ultra hi-tech secrets to China, either. Let Obama and the Clintons duke it out, but with a Dem Congress, the U.S. absolutely NEEDS the moderating force of somebody like a John McCain. McCain is a patriot who loves America. With him in the White House and the daffy Dems running Congress we may be able to survive. If Obama or the Clintons were to win, along with a Dem Congress, we can kiss the US of A good-bye. Nobody would recognize it after fifteen years. McCain's the only sensible choice. //

It shows how silly the man made GW stuff is - if the sun does cool the earth a little bit does anyone seriously think that we can do anything to warm it up ? Which leads to the obvious conclusion about global warming - it's the sun, stupid
![]() Anyway, if you look at global warming over the past 50 years (when there was tremendous carbon emissions) and the 50 years before that (when there was very little carbon emissions), both periods warmed about .6 degrees over 50 years. If carbon emissions were the cause of GW, why are the two 50 year periods about the same in warming ?

This story started making waves early in 2007 but by mid 2007 it had been completely disproven. I would suggest you do a bit of research before posting old articles and believing in POLITICAL SCIENCE. Claims that increased solar activity is the cause of global warming - rather than man-made greenhouse gases - have been comprehensively disproved by a detailed study of the Sun. Scientists have delivered the final blow to the theory that recent global warming can be explained by variations in the natural cycles of the Sun - a favourite refuge for climate sceptics who dismiss the influence of greenhouse-gas emissions. An analysis of the records of all of the Sun's activities over the past few decades - such as sunspot cycles and magnetic fields - shows that since 1985 solar activity has decreased significantly, while global warming has continued to increase.
