Default 13/15 seems like a reasonable range to draft

The teams at 13 and 15 definitely need QBs. The teams at 11, 14, and 17 might need QBs.

We're at 7. The Ravens at 8 need a QB. #7 pick salary for a QB isn't ridiculous. I see the heart of a trade down here.

For a QB, it also isn't ridiculous to get the full value on the trade value chart or better.

By the trade value chart, we're in the range of 1st + 2nd for 1st at #13 or #15. If it's #11, it's more like 1st + 2nd for 1st + 2nd (or the Oakland high 3rd).

I'd be happy to include late picks in such a trade, or to offer our late 2nd in return for a next-year 2nd as part of a deal.

It seems likely that there will be good value at positions of need around there too, including CB. And note that #15 is a very sweet spot, because you now get one more year on the guy's contract than you get at 16+.

Good point. Could be an ideal spot to deal down from. I thought the Ravens needed a young qb a couple of weeks ago. I'm wondering if they give Troy Smith a chance. But, if the Ravens appear likely to draft a qb. Some team may want to move ahead of them to get their guy. Carolina or Chicago? Sitting at 13 and 14. Does Delhomme have anything left? I don't think so. I think Chicago wants a veteran. McNabb or D.Anderson. But, if they don't get one. Maybe them.

Conceivably we could get a Revis-class player, and still have enough ammo left to trade back into the late first round at get some other rook on a five-year contract.

Oh yeah, swap the #7 to the Ravens for the #8 and their 3rd round pick so the birds can ensure their choice of QB? Yup sounds like a very nice tidy trade to me. And think what the Pats can do with three 3rd round picks! They can package one of those with their 2nd round pick to nab a pretty nice player that slips into round 2.
