I signed up for this a while back and they just released their 1st draft guide of the year. Its pretty interesting and a 116 page pdf that includes a full 7 round mock. www.newerascouting.com
Here is their mock, though: 2008 Mock Draft Round One Pick Team Player School Position 1 Miami Chris Long Virginia DE 2 St. Louis Glenn Dorsey LSU DT 3-T Atlanta Darren McFadden* Arkansas RB 4-T Kansas City Jake Long Michigan OT 5-T Oakland Malcolm Kelly* Oklahoma WR 6 New York Jets Sedrick Ellis USC DT 7 New England (SF) Antoine Cason Arizona CB 8 Baltimore Matt Ryan Boston College QB 9 Cincinnati Keith Rivers USC LB 10 New Orleans Dan Connor Penn State LB 11-T Buffalo Martin Rucker Missouri TE 12-T Denver James Laurinaitis* Ohio State LB 13 Carolina Brian Brohm Louisville QB 14-T Detroit Malcolm Jenkins* Ohio State CB 15-T Chicago Andre Woodson Kentucky QB 16 Arizona Victor Harris* Virginia Tech CB 17 Minnesota Mario Manningham* Michigan WR 18 Houston Rashard Mendenhall* Illinois RB 19 Philadelphia Vernon Gholston* Ohio State DE 20-P Tampa Bay Ryan Clady* Boise State OT 21-P Washington Calais Campbell* Miami (FL) DE 22 Dallas (CLE) Mike Jenkins South Florida CB 23-P Seattle Frank Okam Texas DT 24-P Pittsburgh Jeff Otah Pitt OT 25-P Tennessee Limas Sweed Texas WR 26-P New York Giants Kenny Phillips* Miami (FL) S 27-P San Diego Early Doucet LSU WR 28-P Jacksonville Quentin Groves Auburn DE 29-P Green Bay Jonathan Stewart* Oregon RB 30-P San Francisco (IND) Sam Baker USC OT 31-P Dallas Tashard Choice Georgia Tech RB Other Patriots Picks: 63 - Mike Hart - Michigan - RB 66 - Jonathan Goff - Vanderbilt- LB 95 - Chad Henne - Michigan - QB 127 - Bruce Davis - UCLA - LB 159 - Mike Klinkenborg - Iowa - LB 191 - Trevor Scott - Buffalo - DE 223 - Ben Hochstein - Nebraska-Omaha - OT Personally, it sucks and shows little thought on how the Patriots run their team. I don't see the Pats taking Henne at the end of the 3rd round when they have Cassel and Gutierrez. Also, I don't see the Pats taking back to back LBs the way they have it posted. Nor do I see the Pats taking 4 LBs (2 ILB/2 OLB). The pick of Hart is intriguing considering that he's built very similarly to Kevin Faulk. Though I think that Cherilus (OT from BC) would be a better pick for the Pats at 65 than Hart. Bruce Davis, who is a 4-3 DE for UCLA, doesn't look to be a 3-4 OLB fit for the Patriots. While Klinkenborg seems llike a good candidate for ILB, but the Pats already have someone like him in Lua. Jasper Brinkley is someone who I think the Pats will keep an eye on even though the kid tore up his knee. If he's progressing well, the Pats could easily stash him on the IR as long as he's willing to go with the program. Trevor Scott seems like a better fit as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 Rush OLB for the Pats. Hochstein is very small for OT for the Pats and seems to be extremely slow based on his school workout numbers. Last edited by DaBruinz; 01-02-2008 at 02:38 PM. Reason: Corrected Goff's school. |

Chris Long #1? Cason the top CB taken? Where does Mike Hart fit in - He has Faulk's size, but certainly not his game? Why can't they get Goff's school correct? Did they pick Henne because of some reasoning like "The Patriots have a history of taking Wolverine quarterbacks?" Trevor Scott is someone who's been on my watch list for a while.

I don't know what the reasoning was behind taking Henne. Since its free, I think its worth subscribing to since they have blurbs on NUMEROUS prospects. They also talk about Team needs: Here is what they list for team needs for the Pats : New England Patriots Round Position Starter/Depth 1 ILB Depth 2 CB Depth 3 RB Depth 4 SS Depth 5 OG Depth 6 WR Depth 7 DL Depth Last edited by DaBruinz; 01-02-2008 at 02:44 PM. |

I actually like that mock a lot.
Cason may not be the fastest DB in the draft, but he has good ball skills and returns kicks. He didn't get trown at a lot this year, so I am waiting for the senior bowl to see what he kind of skills he really has. Despite the two fumbles against Florida, I really like Hart in our offense. Goff could be a beast as a run stuffer in our defense, after a year or two. Henne can hit the seam route as well as any college QB and that is a perfect fit for us. |

I can see Hart if he's to be a 3rd down/compliment back to Maroney. I can't see Henne at all. Not with Cassel and Gutierrez here. Not in the 3rd round with Brady already on board for the foreseeable future. Goff could be good for this defense. The problem is that he's supposedly not great in coverage. That's why I think he's a reach early in the 3rd round where NewEra has him going. |

Thank you for posting, it may not end up being accurate but it does seem thorough. 4 LBs seems high but realistically only 4-5 players would make the roster so any late day 2 picks or for competition.

I actually have a strong opinion that the Pats' first pick will be a CB.
I'd expect them to trade down a few notches to try to get it done, however, unless somebody SHOOTS up the draft boards. |

Jonathan Goff isn't lasting that long. That being said I like him, and think he'd be a great LB for NE. For the record: I've got New Era's 2007 draft guide, and their scouting/info on players wasn't the best.
