Whoever created that site deserves to have a hockey stick shoved so far up his rectum that he gets splinters in his throat.

That has to be the most moronic site I have ever seen and I had read some UFO web sites out there...

Love the FAQ section...

"Q: Did you ever see Bobby Orr play?
A: While we never saw Bobby Orr play an NHL game, we have seen countless highlights and video clips from many sources. These videos only confirm our theories as they clearly demonstrate the ineptnes of Orr's competition."

Ok so you never saw him play but you saw some highlights. This douche crows about the 'level of competition" Orr played agains and says that players during Orr's era were all 5'9" and 150 lbs and pretty much had beer guts.

He did a "simulation" of Orr's career stats..."
adjusted set of career stats derived from a sophisticated computer simulation showing what Orr's stats would have looked like if instead of playing from 1966/67 to 1978/79, he played from 1994/95 to 2006/2007."

His "sophisticated computer simulation" dropped Orr's Goals from 279 to 37! His assists from 645 to 91! OH his penalty minutes increased from 953 to 1475.....This is his conclusion, how can you argue with this?

"The simulation makes it quite clear. Orr's goals and assists dropped dramatically due to not being able to keep up with the speed or skill of todays far superior players, and his penalty minutes increased noticeably, due to increased calls for interference, hooking, tripping, and other penalties taken trying to illegally stop players who outperformed him on the ice"

This guy is a tool of the highest factor.

Let me get this straight, you have a "sophisitcated computer simulation" that compares hockey players of different eras but probably couldn't name 4 hockey players that played with Orr...including MANY,MANY HOF players....but this tools says it is just Orr?

Ok, and you never watched a single game that Orr played you just saw some highlights and you admit it on this inane web site? Boy you are a tool!

The only part of your web site that doesn't work is the message board? Wonder why? You have a total of 25 "signatures" on your petition and most of those are comments of what a tool you are and are not signatures...oh and it includes his own "signature"

Sometimes freedom on the internet is not a good thing. Also some people should not be upset that a professional hockey player screwed thier mom and never called her back....

hate to admit this, but i agree with you... Orr is a sure-fire, first-ballot HoFer, and the guy's rationale is laughingly pathetic... Orr is one of the few players from that era who could certainly compete and flourish today...

however, i will say that the average NHL skater in the 60s and 70s, and well into the 80s was not a very good athlete... it was only in the Russian and Eastern European invasion in the late 80s and 90s where the NHL talent pool increased substantially... that's not to say there weren't fantastic Canadian players in place already, but rather that there weren't enough pro-calibur skaters to fill 20+ rosters, and it was much more of a beer and guts league... a byproduct of that was the endless, mind-numbing bench-clearing brawls of those days... there just weren't very many good skaters back then...

today, every player can skate, and skate incredibly well... the most telling reason that point totals -- once in the 150+ point stratosphere by the Gretsky's and Lemeiux's of the world in the 80s -- came back down to earth was because suddenly, with the influx of European and Russians, players could fly... including, and especially, on the blue line... 3 and 4 lines deep... not just the top 5 guys...

people think speed equates to offensive production in a sport like hockey... well, to a degree... but closer to the mark: speed throughout the game means tighter defense, and fewer power breakouts down the ice... that and the neutral zone trap are why scoring plummeted in the 90s and on, until they changed the rules... it became too boring...

Good post PC ... I clipped just this part because I instantly thought of Phil Esposito. Fat and out of shape all he did was hang in front of the goal and score he did. he had a ton of great moves in the crease area. If he had to skate for his goals like the players do now ... Fah-get-a-bout-it.

Edit: I also forgot to say I grew up in the Rhode Island auditorium days ... we didn't have much money so we snuck in alot through the back doors. Those guys used to smoke like chimneys ... and many smoked the camels and other non filtered brands. Oh, yesterdays athlete was way different than todays. But Orr was an athlete and he would have adapted to todays game, Rick Middleton also... because of superior skating ability...Nifty was a huge puffer also btw.

I was too young to see Orr live; but my dad wasn't. He's always talked about how you had to see him at the arena to understand just what he was doing. On television he looked like just another player.

Am I the only person who kept thinking 'Derek Sanderson' every time this guy talked about Orr playing with thugs and goons and Special Olympians?

First, Derek Sanderson was a very good player. He was unbelievable in face-offs. I don't watch much hockey today, but is there anyone who dominates face-offs.
Orr: I happened to catch some of yesterday's game as I was waiting for the football game. The Bruins were up 2-0 in the third period and were just content to keep hitting the puck down the ice. I kept thinking, isn't there anyone who just could take the puck...............oh yea, now I remember. Orr would take the puck and circle his own goal, around and around with an opponent chasing. Then the opposition would send in another skater. Which he would then either pass out or take a rush up the rink, only to turn around half way and skate back in a couple of circles maybe passing out and getting the puck back. There has never been anyone else like him.

I guess it's been a little while since I visited here. That site is a disgrace to modern humans. The fact that a complete moron can create a blog like that proves how pathetic the information & technology age can be. His reasons for creating it aren't even legit. What could possibly be afflicting that retard to do this?

If we are to believe the idiots that ran that site, hockey began in the 80's and no one prior to that should be in the HOF because Orr was the greatest player to lace up skates. I would suggest that the figure skaters that poipulate the NHL now including Gretsky would have been mediocre since they couldn't take the punishment of the hard play in that era.
