Patters I like that our choices are pretty much polar opposites. The weird thing is though that Fred Thompson is way down on my list even though the only issue where we disagree is net neutrality, meanwhile others that had a whole bunch of issues different with my views, like McCain, are higher. Something wrong there, must be in how I ranked the importance?

Who knows how precise these calculators are! But, they do give a general idea. I'm actually surprised you came in so conservative. To get the kind of results you got, I think you might be the most conservative one here, and that's saying somethin'!

I'm on the conservative side of most issues, the only ones in that calculator I differ on are background checks, net neutrality, and I put no preference for stem cell funding. For a bunch of things I agree with conservative thinking, but I put the importance to "meh," like abortion rights, death penalty, same sex marriage, etc. The issues I put were "key" were Iran, Iraq, Patriot Act, Citizenship for illegals, and Universal health care. In other words, I would be perfectly happy to vote for someone fiscally conservative and hawkish on foreign policy, but socially more liberal, like Rudy for example. I'd rate myself to the right, but probably not the most conservative!

What likely brought me more to the middle is that I favor gun control and I'm good with civil unions for gays.

Not a very good poll ... IMO.
Not enough social USA issues included which is why I like Edwards.

Alot of the things they list are important but I would prefer to answer one that was heavily weighted with domestic issues ... which I am slightly liberal on. But as these polls go they all have flaws. I like Romney, I just don't like any of the others until I get to Giuliana & Edwards.

Romney 25

Huckabee 17

Thompson 14

Hunter 14

McCain 11

Giuliani 10

Biden 6

Cox 5

Dodd 3

Clinton 2

Edwards -1
Tancredo -4
Kucinich -4
Brownback -5
Richardson -8
Obama -8
Paul -11
Gravel -20

I thing the weight of importance of the issues should have been graded on a ten point scale.
