US leads world in jailing children for life

THE United States has far more juveniles serving life terms than any other country — 2387. Israel, the only other country that imprisons juveniles for life, according to a new study by the University of San Francisco's Centre for Law & Global Justice, has seven — and has not issued such a sentence since 2004.

In the US, life terms have fallen disproportionately on non-white children, who are 10 times more likely than white children to be given life without parole, the report found.

The study, titled Sentencing Children to Die in Prison, also found that in California, black juveniles are 20 times more likely to receive such sentences.

"For many children, (life without parole) is an effective death sentence," said Michelle Leighton, chief author of the study, which found 51% of such children were first-time offenders.

did you know that most federal prisons are privately owned? at least, partially? or engage in privately contracted labor?

that means, certain people actually make a nice profit off a smooth running outfit like jail... think about that for a moment...

when a person reflects to himself that the facade that is/was 'the war on drugs' has kept the US prison system chalked full of 'undesirables' ... one can then try to get their head around the fact that America's main intelligence service has facilitated the influx of hard drugs into its own country, laundered the money via wall street banks, and stimulated hard capital to the tune of $600 million per year for whatever sympathetic corporate entity that needs buoyancy...

but hey, don't take my word for it ... just google 'CIA' and 'drugs'... it's a widely known fact, at this point...

America should start amputating hands when someone gets caught stealing, if someone runs away from a Cop that has ordered them to stop they should cut their Feet off, hookers should be stoned to death, if a women gets raped by ten men she should be disemboweld and then whipped, if a young person gets arrested more than once they should behead them on live TV.

Enforce the laws that are on the books and stop blubbering about "civil liberties" then you will be able to Close Jails instead of building new ones.

The article was very unclear about whether this disproportionality was #kids getting life out of all kids or #kids getting life out of those eligible to based on their crime. I assume it's the former although I don't know for sure.

Here's an idea - quit committing crimes that make you eligible for life without parole

The way to solve this problem and give the prisons back to the White Mother F%^$&# is for that certain group of people who now over-run our prisons is to teach this certain group of people to

Please, none of that poverty sh!t, 95% of the American people stayed out of jail during the depression and they were far worse off than todays 'poor people"

They have had forty years to get their sh!t together.

On average, that would appear to be so. Look at whatever stats you want, out of wedlock births, single parent homes, etc. I believe they have the capability to have their sh!t together as much as any other race - but they clearly don't right now.

Jails arent randomly going to people's houses and bringing them to jail. The individual has to perpetrate a crime, be caught and then convicted by a jury of their peers to be sent to prison.


Perhaps we should be wondering whats going on with the youth of today and why they are effing up so bad to be given life sentences in prison and what can be done to help alleviate that problem?
