Welcome to Jersey
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Welcome to Giants Stadium, where the Patriots visit the Jets in today's season opener.

It is expected to be a hot one. The current temperature is 75 degrees. It is humid. The temperature is expected to rise into the 80s by kickoff at 1 p.m.

Jeff Triplette is the referee for today's game.

Posted By: mreiss | Time: 09:47:06 AM

Oh ****. Jeff Triplette.

I hope to not expect perfection right from the gate this season.
I'm just hoping for a win, however it gets done.

I predict 3 straight runs from Maroney to start the offense.
Pats want to show they can get 1st downs running before they begin throwing it around.

The expectation for Maroney, Moss, and Samuel are so high this year its unfair and doubtful they will be able to live up to the standards. They're great players but don't be disapointed if you don't see, Tomlinson, Marvin, and Bailey out there. My prediction is that some nobody will rise up and steal the show on the Pats.

Moss and Samuel are ready to go

To the surprise of no one (at least not this reporter) - Randy Moss and Asante Samuel are both on today's 45 man active roster and are ready to go.

Those 7 players who will not dress today-

-S Rashad Baker
-LB David Herron
-OL Wesley Britt
-OL Billy Yates
-TE David Thomas
-DL Kareem Brown
-DL Mike Wright

and #7 Matt Gutierrez is the designated 3rd quarterback

MoLewisrocks
09-09-2007, 10:56 AM
Andy Hart was just on the pre game radio show. Said he thinks Asante will be fine and start. Says while he still believes Seymour is the best DL on the team, many don't still feel that way. The next 6-8 weeks will show if Warren and Wilfork are developing players who will knock on the pro bowl door without Richard, and if they do then maybe he isn't. Says he thinks the Pats will control this game, just a superior team. Thinks Randy and the WR corps will make plays and Maroney will play with energy and it won't be close - Pats by 20.

Also said he does not believe there was ever any talk of cutting Rodney over his suspension (same thing Michael Silver said earlier). Said there will be more cases like this coming to the point that if teams were to over react it might get hard to field a team.

Watching the Sports Reporters this AM a woman reporter from the NY Times said the league's should test for Chlomide?, something like that. She said guys who take steroids also take this to keep them from becoming women. :)

It prevents some of steroid side effects. She also said MLB doesn't want to do tat because they don't really want to know how many players take steroids. I don't think they do either and their investigations are all show.

Dyson -- stg corner

Barnes -- Stg FB

Seems to me Jets may be in serious trouble with no depth in D backfield at all.

It's not even bad D by the JEST. It's obvious they were just overmatched. At least on that drive.

As I watch that beautiful first of the year and first of many TD to Welker, I think of NEM...who opined constantly on his site in the off season that Welker should be traded since they signed Stallworth and Moss, and he wasn't a fit for this team, and if he wasn't traded it would only be to save face because they traded for him prematurely. :D
