I set this one up for those (like me) who missed both patsox23's Yahoo league and ironwasp's ESPN league.
League ID: 507913
Password: tb2ww
League URL: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/507913
The draft will be this Friday, August 24 at 7:45 PM. Sorry - this is one of the last evening timeslots available.
The rules will be the same as the 2006 PatsFans Yahoo! league:

It's good that we have two leagues running, so that everyone has a chance to participate. Just one thing, as I mentioned in a PM to Ironwasp: If you have the league's first pick, DO NOT DRAFT MICHAEL VICK.

So are you able to change the defensive mode in Yahoo?
And oh, none other than NEM has filled that 10th and final spot - and is matched up against Sey93 in the first game - perfect match! ;)

You should be able to, although I'm not 100% sure. I was never a commish for a Yahoo league, but I played in many leagues that include individual defensive players. It's no big deal if we only have offense, I just like to always include defense too.

Personally, NEM is the type of Fantasy GM that ruins leagues because of what others have said. He drafts dubiously and then doesn't do anything about his roster. Personally, I wouldn't mind that team being replaced with someone else. And I can say this because he's done in each of the Patsfans leagues that he's been in over the past 2 years.

PS - somebody asked about leagues w/individual defensive players. I run a league on Yahoo, and we have 1 DL or LB, 1 DB, and 1 Defensive Flex player on each team. We don't have "DEF/ST". But if your receiver, rb, db, or whatever, runs backs kicks and/or punts, you get points.
It's a hoot. But I wouldn't want to set it up overnight for a new league.

So what settings do we want for defense?
Here's what I have right now:
1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 0 WR/TE, 0 WR/RB, 1 K, 1 DEF, 0 DP, 0 DB, 0 DL, 8 BN.
Here's what we can choose from (remember there's a bench too):
QB: 0-5
WR: 0-7
RB: 0-7
TE: 0-5
WR/TE: 0-5
WR/RB: 0-5
K: 0-3
DEF (team): 0-3
D player: 0-7
DB: 0-5
DL: 0-5
Bench: 0-20
Keep in mind it's a 12-team league too.

I say 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, 7 Dplayers (choose 4-3 or 3-4) 4 dbacks and a big bench
But for a 12-team league, that sounds a bit high.
How about 3 Dplayers, 3 DBs, and 2 DLs to even it out?
For the bench, we'll need 1 QB, 1-2 RBs, 2-3 WRs, 1 TE, 0-1 K, 2-3 Dplayers, 1-2 DB and 1 DL...so 13-player bench?
EDIT: There's a 25-man limit, so here's what I was thinking:
-Add 1 DEF for there's 1 team defense per team
-Drop 1 DB
-Drop 1 DL
-Drop 3 BN
pats1

I'd like to see a 50+ yard field goal kicked up a point or 2 from what it is now.
Everthing else looks good and I don't like therb/wr flex position either.
drakesta101
08-19-2007, 08:02 PM
Is it possible to get that Special Teamer position as well? I think this would add a little excitement for when a guy like Welker or a Hester touches the ball.
I believe someone mentioned it earlier -that might have such an option for yahoo leagues.
EDIT: I checked back - he said he just modified the scoring system to include points for players that have such versatility. I think it would be a good idea

You guys are just getting nuts.
GRAND TOTAL 3 defensive guys, MAYBE 5, is plenty to track. Trust me. I've run a league like this (with IDPs.)
I have no problem with flex players (WR/RB). I do have a prob. w/a flex TE/WR, but could live with one.
I also have a problem with these insane, way off-brand configurations being bubbled up 10 seconds before the season. Come on now.
Keep it at least within spitting distance of a recognizable format, since everybody will NOT be watching the evolving rule committee all day tomorrow (some of us have jobs.)

These are the scoring settings we use for defensive players in my main IDP league:
1 point per tackle
0.5 points per assist
2 points per sack
4 points per interception
2 points per forced fumble
2 points per fumble recovery
2 points per safety
1 point per pass defended
3 points per blocked field goal
6 points per defensive touchdown

I was just checkin' out last year's league that DaBruinz won.
I had the 1st pick last year - and took Alexander. He and his broken foot got me 124 points. DaBruinz took LT with the 3rd pick and reeled in 414 points.
Oh well. My top performer last year was Bulger with 263 points. I went 7-7. DaBruinz had Brady (233), Jones-Drew (217), and Wayne (181) and went 10-3-1.

For some reason, I keep getting an error when I try to connect. Also, did you move the draft up?

Nope, it's still at 7:45.
What kind of error are you getting?

And Jones Drew was someone I picked up during the season. I can also remember getting ridiculed for taking Brady in the 2nd round. HAH.. *GRIN*

Yeah, I'm in with a bunch of others.
There should be somewhere on there to "Test your system." Could be a firewall problem.

Found the thing about testing my system. Could be that I need to have a public IP...Hold on...

Just an FYI, Flaming Laptops, Warren had 56 solos and 28 assists, plus 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble. I incorrectly said 87 when it was 84.
The Pats coaches had him at 117 total tackles. There has been at least 2 articles on Warren mentioning this.

NOTE: I picked him up, but if whoever dropped him didn't understand the scoring system, I could always make a trade...

No worries, Bruinz, I feel good about what I was saying (though you were thinking total tackles and I was thinking solo.) I said 60 was the upside (talking about tackles,) and I think that's still about right.
Might work out pretty well, given how active he was in penetrating the line. They should have TFL as a stat... something tells me Warren did that more than a time or two as well.
And hey KHAYOS... your team SUCKS!

I dropped Justin Miller. I already had Chris McAllister and Asante Samuel. And I'm going to play Joey Porter.
And no, I've never played with defensive players so maybe I am missing something...

Well, Miller will get you a lot of return points. Samuel and McAllister will only get you points for tackles and INTs. But that's fine, I'll keep Miller. :D

I didn't know he was a return guy :( I should've done more research before I released him. Although I should have known that anyway, I guess, considering it's the Jets.
I got to the draft room late yesterday and the computer didn't draft me another RB (I have 2) and I'm looking for another decent one, so if someone wants to look at my roster and offer a trade for a RB, go for it. My team name is NE Pats.

60 solo tackles is a LOT. Like I said, the Pats coaches credited him with 117 total and I am sure that there were more solos than assists in there.
7.5 sacks from a 3-4 D-lineman is a LOT also... *GRIN*
Warren is my BACK-UP D to Bart Scott and Zach Thomas...

60 is a HELL of a lot of solo tackles for a D Lineman, especially in the Pats' system, widely known to plug the gaps and let the linebackers get the glory.
Hell, the 7.5 sacks pretty much pushes him into decent backup territory. I see no reason to believe that number won't increase this year.
