View Full Version : I'm moderator on here....

Ian has kindly agreed to make me moderator for the forum. I therefore have the power to delete threads, lock them and so on. I would like to have a discussion about "house rules". It is nice to have debate but it IS a religious forum and people should have the right of respect for their religious views.
The usual stuff about personal attacks and profanity apply. Bear with me; I'm learning the ropes with moderation.
My first duty is to delete spam threads.
Please note that I am available online (generally) between 1130 and 1730/1830 Eastern Time in the week, as I can't log on at work. At the weekends, I am always around, but it may take a little longer to reply during a game itself. Besides, why would anyone PM me during a game? :D

Congrats, this is a good thing, too long has this been a haven for spam and links to porn sites.. do well, now maybe can get some of the folks who do not understand the difference between politics and religion to post here..

Just did a quick check about 66% of the threads here need the deletion key.. not sure why this is such a haven for some of this crap.

Thanks. I'm currently going through and deleting the spam. It will take me quite some time, as there are six pages to go through. It would be nice to have the distinction between religion and politics, as it would be better for both forums.

Many do not think there is any, imo religion is distinctly different.. good luck this forum has been neglected too long.

Cheers. It's just a case of riding into town on my trusty steed, dealing with the wannabe gunslinger and heading off to herd cattle...

I am now subject to the moderator code of omerta about what we can and cannot see. As I do not wish "to swim with the fishes" any time soon or "wear concrete shoes", I have suddenly become mute.

Congratulations! Poachers make the best game-keepers.

(And Miss GC tells us that you're pretty much house-trained too) On second thoughts, a dog won't pay its share of the bills and I'm fairly sure Julian won't pee on the floor if I leave him home alone all day ;).

Congrats Cat!! When you get what appears to be a porn spam you should examine it carefully, several times, to make sure it is indeed what you think it is. Never be too quick to delete without careful examiation.:rocker:

Excellent advice, Nut. I might even go so far as to download and watch the contents later, just to make sure.

you have done a great job here, Gomezcat, in time and as people realize that this is a viable forum, there will be some great debates here and perhaps there will answers to the mideast crisis, world peace, aids, world hunger and uncivility of people to others.

As for the chat up line, erm......

"...erm", "erm"? Is that all they bother with in Lancashire? What a bunch of gentlemen! In Yorkshire we at least say "Get tha coat, Mavis!" -- if you move in posh circles like me. ;)

Aye, lad. "Erm" would explain my years of "singlehood" prior to meeting Her Highness, which I did online....

Wouldn't "Erm" make a wonderful screen-name?

gomezcat

"Erm" would indeed make a great screen name. A friend of mine plays online games as Ug, which is pretty accurate for the brutality with which he dispatches others.
BTW, for those of you not as familiar as you ought to be with English history, mishaps with renegade colonies west of here notwithstanding, Mike and I come from rival counties in Northern England. He comes from Yorkshire and I from Lancashire. It is a friendly rivalry but it wasn't always thus:

Yes, I'm not giving Gomez a hard time because I'm a sadistic b*st*rd -- it's my patriotic duty! ;)

(By the way, I thought I knew some history, but I learned a lot from that article -- it really brought it home to me how horrible civil wars are.)

If someone took a leek, it's the Welshman.

I must say, if there's one thing I never thought I'd have to cope with on the Patriots board, it's the war of the roses. Eh well. Better than when all the Italian guys were claiming to have bit their thumbs at each other...
