I was just watching FSN Sports Tonight
They had a special draft report featuring Tom Curran. In his mock draft he has NE taking Michael Griffin and David Harris. He said Harris will fill the Ted Johnson role. He also said that NE taking Harris is practically a lock, and he'd be shocked if NE comes out of tomorrow without having taken Harris. It seems everyone is on the David Harris to NE train. Back when I had them taking Harris at 28th overall (4/10/07) I thought it might have been a slight reach, and some people told me it was to early. Now some are indicating NE might have to take him at 24th overall. Again, he is considered to be the best 3-4 ILB in the entire draft.... I guess we'll see.

Curran reads our posts too much. Obviously, the reality is that much can happen during the first round to change what this consensus pair of picks.

It's funny, that big chorus of "you're all ignoring the facts! the patriots NEVER take linebackers on day one!" that used to be so strong around here hasn't been heard lately....

Griffin & Harris are two players who I have been looking forward to grabbing off the board in the first round. I have wanted this combo in the first round for a few weeks now.

Maybe it is the ultimate smokescreen.
Word was saying that Pats like Beason...then that we will pick Harris. Who knows, maybe it is true. Maybe it is to force a team to trade up and pick Harris to be sure to have Beason... ![]()

After weeks of changing my mind, tonight I keep coming back to this image: IF no attractive trades are in the offing, it's 24-Harris, 28-Gonzalez.
And with only 12 hours to go before the draft, this image might stick...until the actual facts prove it wrong. ![]() |

Now all of a sudden he's considered a #24 option. Why? Because his stock's risen. End of story. If we select him with our first pick, it'll be because the OTHER prospects BB has ranked higher are all off the board -- IMO. I also still believe he's a legitimate #28 option and if we don't select him at 1A we may do so at 1B -- but no, I don't believe he's a lock at #24. Why on earth would BB allow this info to leak out NOW?

Felt all along that we willl take a LB at one of the slots, the second #1 not sure if it will be #24 or #28 will be used for future considerations either later in this weekends draft or next year.

Latest news is...........Jets are interested in Harris at #25. So if the Pats want him they need to take him at #24.
Looks like Mangini is trying to play head games with the masters. I'm sure BB & SP have a few Aces hid up their sleeves. I think CB Chris Houston is going to be a star in the NFL. His coverage skills, physical play, and closing speed is remarkable. Unfortunately, most fans on this forum leave him off their prospects lists. He's ranked as the 4th or 5th best CB in the draft, but the Patriots always look for hungry players looking to prove themselves. And it doesn't hurt if they have talent. But this I know for sure, barring injury, the Pats picks (if they keep #24 & #28), no matter who they are, will have great mentors to make sure they are prepared to handle the reigns for the next several years.
