Default Bengal Fan needs help picking for the Pats

Hi Patriots fans,
the bengals.com message board is doing a mock draft where members take a team and make picks for the first day of the draft. I picked the Patriots and need input for a decision on draft day.

I was able to trade my first round picks for the 2nd pick in the draft, but also have the option of trading down to #7 and picking up a second rounder.

CJ could be an amazing weapon for you guys and along with Maroney and Watson could give you your most explosive offense ever in a few years.

On the other hand if I could pick up a guy like Landry or Willis along with a second rounder it would give you a defensive leader to learn behind either Harrison or Bruschi and another valuable player.

All these guys have the team first attitude Billicheck likes and are very polished athletes. Willis and CJ are my favorite players in the draft.

So what would you guys do?

Thanks in advance

Trade down to get Willis. The Pats don't like paying high end draft choices, prefer later value.

MUch as I'd love to see CJ in a Pats uniform, INside LB is now our biggest need.

Do you think he'd be a good fit in a 3-4?

I'm not sure if the person who made that trade with you should be congratulated or committed.

Belichick wouldn't have made that trade--if you want to emulate him, I'd trade down--but I would put about 60:40 odds that, if he couldn't trade down, he would take Calvin Johnson.

Willis fills a bigger need for us than CJ. WRs are too often busts. Trade down.

Trade down for Landry he could be something special in this defense.

yeah trade down, grab Landry

unless: you trade Stallworth + another WR and take Johnson while trying to get a late 1st for Stallworth and another player

A hotly disputed subject on this board. My advice is to trade down, but don't overpay for a too small ILB (that will warm some folks up) .

As others have said, the trade up to #2 would be out of character for Coach Belichick. What would be in character (since you're already there). Is to take a sure bet instead of the questionable Mr. Willis, DE Adam Carriker would be my first choice. Joe Thomas my second. Gaines Adams the third. Amobi Okoye fourth. One of them should be there for you and they all are much more sure values then Patrick Willis or Calvin Johnson (that should bring the second set of outraged war cries).

Use the second round pick to get a CB, such as Josh Wilson. ILB can be found in the later rounds for better value.

I know it wasn't a Patriot-like trade, but it was a good value.

Originally I was planning on trading back down and getting the second rounder which I think is better than two late firsts no question since I could get a big time defender and still have another pick that's worth almost as much as #28.

But then I realized I was in position to get Calvin freakin Johnson, who could make your offense ridiculous and reconsidered.

Maybe not real realistic, but I feel I got a good deal and either way it should work out well.

Unless Oakland takes CJ, but I dont think he will.

if your grabbing CJ then try to trade some of the WRs to gain a nice late1st-early 2nd pick
