Default Excellent draft column from Kirwan

RUnning on NFL.com right now.

I was particularly interested in point 3 given the debate about Cassell going on on the other board.

"3. Don't pass on a franchise quarterback: I don't care if your quarterback's name is Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Donovan McNabb. If a signal-caller is there when you're on the clock, just take him. Look at what the Falcons were able to get in a trade for Matt Schaub. A quarterback is a blue-chip investment. If a team like the Lions pass on a potential franchise QB for the second year in a row and look back a few years from now to see Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn in the Pro Bowl, they will feel the same way the Jets felt when after passing on Hall of Famer Dan Marino. If Oakland had taken Leinart or Jay Cutler last year, it would have been negotiating with Calvin Johnson right now."

By the way, anyone else think that Kirwan might have done a spot of moonlighting as a private investigator in Hawaii in the 1980s???

I believe the Jets took TE Kyle Brady over Dan Marino. Brilliant!!! Who needs a HOF QB when you can have a solid blocking tight end. Oh yeah we have this guy now... except we didn't give up a top 1st round draft pick for him!

Hahaha, yea Kyle Brady was drafted in 1995, and Marino in 1983.

I think that #4 is very interesting based on the recent threat that BOX put up about BB creating mismatches at the LOS.

4. Identify the top three matchup nightmares and take one:

The Jets took Ken O'Brien over Dan Marino in the 1983 draft.

What's worse is that the Patriots chose TONY EASON over Dan Marino. Could anyone imagine what the Pats would have been like with Marino instead of EASON?

Kyle Brady in same draft as Marino?

K. Brady must be lying about his age - What the f>>k are we gonna do with a 46 year old TE?
