I think that there is a lot of value for the patriots in the 8-15 spots. These players will be signing SIX year contracts. Their salaries may look high, but they will be locked in.
I can certainly see us trading both picks into the top 10 for Landry or Carriker. I also could see us trading into the 11-15 spots with a Day One pick coming back for bb's favorite LB or CB. I don't think the issue will be about WANTING to move up. The issue will be about securing trading partners who will give us value. ------------------------------------------------------ In the end, I don't expect a major trade up or down, just the normal move up 5 spots if needed, or move down 10-15 or so and get back an additional Day One pick. Of course, it may trun out best to stay here we are. |

Amen.
(Though I wouldn't want to spend that on Landry with the S depth in this class.)

I agree. They lost a lot of veteran players and are too young and don't have enough players to compete this year. They also don't spend in FA so they'll still be young in '08. So I do see them as trading partners w/NE as they get more picks to build depth while waiting for the Pats to get old and for BB to ride into the sunset after winning two straight. Sorry for the blasphemy.

If the Pats needed one particular player to win the Superbowl,
I would say trade up. I don't think this is the case. Instead, they need to find the future replacements for Rodney Harrison, Eugene Wilson, Tedy Bruschi, and possibly Asante Samuel. If the Pats stay put, they might fill a couple of these needs. Last edited by Jimke; 03-18-2007 at 09:50 AM. |

But heck, I didn't see Whitner coming last year either! |

You expect to find the replacement for one of these players at #24 or #28. Others think that it is much more likely to find these players at #14 or #8.

It seems like year after year. someone falls to us. One year it was Wilfork. I think LB's fall this year. and we need ILB.
