Default Punter in 4th round?

Last year the Pats used a 4th round pick on a kicker. Could they go ahead this year, and go after the nations best punter in the forth round?

or

check out his 46 yd punt average, and his holder abilities. Can we finally say that we have seen the last of Ken Walter.

With the emphasis thayt BB puts on feild position, using a 4th on a punter (maybe we get a 4th rd comp pick and use that to draft him) seems to make sense.

Don't think so....but you're anticipating the right direction. The Pats sent P Danny Baugher and P Tom Malone (who were on the Practice Squad) to NFLE for the spring.

I like both of them and would have no problem locking two young guys in at P and PK. It would probably depend on how they like them compared to Malone and Baugher plus how any trade talk with later picks is going. If they're able to (or think they'll be able to) trade some of the second day picks then they can probably use the #4 in better ways - but if it looks like we'll be "stuck" using our second day picks, putting one into a good Punter would be a valid consideration.

Oh ham sandwich no. IMO that is a total waste of a pick when we have access to punters already. The the Ghost was necessary because of the cost of kickers on the market and age. But a punter? Why not Josh Miller or the Big Sour?

I saw Sepulveda punt a couple of times in 2004 when he won the Ray Guy award. If he's kicking inside his own 30 yard line, he will outkick the coverage unit.

However I do think a 4th for a one legged kicker is a bit much. He would really need to prove that the leg is 100% and there is no lingering "clean up" issues that need to be resolved with the knee.

I could live with Podlesh too.

plus of course, we would have to two most unpronouncable last names of kickers in NFL history. What you can do with a punter with 4.5 speed is a question for BB. I wonder if he can catch? I'm guessing he can't. Although 4.5 speed around the corner on a fake would be interesting.

I loved Sauerbrun this year. Best punter we had in awhile, almost singlehandedly won the San Diego game for us. We don't need to draft a punter period. Last year was a different story all together. We needed a kicker in a big way.

I"ve had the same thought, however when I suggested it before I got the same response. That said, who would have thought that we would've used a 4th last year on a PK?

I think a lot will depend on Miller's shoulder and the FO's assessment of his future. If it's still bothering him, then, yeah, drafting a P is a possibility. If it's 100%, then probably not.
