I want to see hitting on both sides of the ball. They came into our house and beat us a few weeks ago, let's get some payback. On offense, why do I think this is when we see what Chad Jackson can do. Meanwhile the two headed monster of Dillon and Maroney should hopefully have a good day, as long as the line blocks better than they did a few weeks ago.

On defense, hit noodlearm early and often. Asante, you wanna get paid, make some plays today. The whole defense better be out there headhunting. We saw the anger in this team last week, getting chippy with Tenn, now play with the same anger, just without the stupid 15 yard penalties.

For good karma I'll bump this with the link to Mike's blog and some pre-game snipets:

Inactive analysis
Nose tackle Vince Wilfork and tight end Benjamin Watson, who have been sidelined since suffering injuries Dec. 10 against the Dolphins, are active today.

Now a look at the Patriots’ inactive players and what that could mean for others:

With safeties Rodney Harrison (starter) and Rashad Baker (backup) out, the Patriots are likely to turn to Artrell Hawkins and James Sanders as starters today. Chad Scott is also an option to start. Depth is a concern here, as rookie Willie Andrews gets bumped up the depth chart today.

With receiver Bam Childress out, the Patriots have five receivers dressed today – Reche Caldwell, Troy Brown, Jabar Gaffney, Chad Jackson and Kelvin Kight. Childress also missed last week’s game.

With offensive linemen Gene Mruczkowski and Wesley Britt out, the Patriots enter with their standard seven linemen on the game-day roster. Russ Hochstein is the top interior backup, while Ryan O’Callaghan is the third tackle. Nick Kaczur, who projects to start at right tackle, is the swing tackle.

With defensive linemen Le Kevin Smith and Marquise Hill out, the Patriots dress their standard five linemen on game-day, with Ty Warren, Richard Seymour. Vince Wilfork, Jarvis Green and Mike Wright.

Vinny Testavderde will serve as the emergency quarterback for the eighth straight week since joining the team. Matt Cassel remains the top backup.

Welcome to Gillette

FOXBOROUGH -- Welcome to Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots will host the Jets in an AFC wild-card round playoff game (1 p.m. EST).

The temperature is currently 46 degrees, it's sunny with clear skies, and a light wind has the flags in the stadium rippling.

For perspective on the weather, here are the game-time temperatures of the team's past home playoff games in January under coach Bill Belichick:

Jan. 7, 2006, vs Jaguars -- 24 degrees

Jan. 16, 2005, vs. Colts -- 25 degrees

Jan. 18, 2004, vs. Colts -- 32 degrees

Jan. 10, 2004, vs. Titans -- 4 degrees

Jan. 19, 2002, vs. Raiders -- 25 degrees

An overflow media crowd is expected today. According to Patriots Executive Director of Media Relations Stacey James, 249 press credentials have been issued for members of the media sitting in the press box today. A total of 600 press credentials have been issued, when includes those media members not sitting in the press box.

We'll plan on passing along more updates throughout the day.

Neither team talks so they have to create a storyline. Plus, all these games are national. They have to explain the rivalry to the lay football viewer.

BB is a firm believer there are TWO seasons, regular and playoffs...which one do you think he values more? I would add I do think some things the new receivers had to get more time in the system before they could be "trusted" to run the entire offense. I think they have been ready but BB held back a little...not to lose...but rolled the dice and figured that the Pats at 90% could get a good Playoff position...the 10% the held back puts other playoff teams on thier heels. LOVE the intensity on both sides, this looks like our PATRIOTS!

Really stupid play by Gaffney - I'm sure he'll get an earful for it. The Jets were reeling, and that gives them a bit of breathing room. The defense needs to get a stop or better yet, a turnover so this team can put it's foot down on the Jets' throats.

NOT SMART !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Personal foul

The quotes regarding Wilforks penalty is the difference between Pats fans and jests fans, faider fans, ect. That was a bang, bang play. Definitely a penalty but many other teams fans on a message board you would hear all kinds of excuses since it gave a 1st down.

The defensive line is dominating. The Jets offensive line is getting killed out there, and so is Pennington. That's 5 plays now where there's been jailbreak type pressure with multiple defenders in the backfield without a blitz being on. Awesome.

it also reduces stamina on washington, but 15 yards is a lot to give up. It hurts our field position. Now we are inside the 20. again.

Well, one battle that we're not winning consistently is the Average Starting Field Position Battle. So far it hasn't hurt us, but that's one battle I think we need to do better with in order to stay ahead.

Exactly---it's a questionable penalty given that the runner hadn't surrendered and the whistle hadn't blown.

The problem was Wilfork was so over-the-top in how he threw the runner down it kind of invited the penalty, though I don't think it required it at all.

Ok, now it is time to adjust the gameplan. The Jest have adjusted to the sideline passes. The blitz has slowed down because of those passes. On the next series we need to bring the ball back to the middle. A screen, some TE crosses. Send the WR long on a first down, but do not underthrow the football.
