Welcome to Lambeau
GREEN BAY -- Welcome to Lambeau Field, where the Patriots visit the Packers today (1 p.m. ET).
The current temperatue is 36 degrees, it's a bit cloudy, and a fairly strong wind has the flags rippling. Conditions shouldn't be much of a factor today.
Mike Carey is the referee today. Carey's crew has flagged teams for an average of 13.6 assessed penalties per game. That's a bit higher than the league average for assessed penalties, which is 12.3. Carey's crew has had nine calls challenged by the instant replay system, with only two reversals.

I'm pretty nervous about this game. If there's been a 'must win' game so far this season, this is it. Actually I guess last week was it, from a Division standpoint, but still.

I don't post during the game as I'm too intense and could say some awful things to those who post stupid remarks.
However here are what I see as keys to this game:
Defense:
1. Limit Green to under 70 yards rushing
2. put pressure on Lord Farve up the middle and contain him on the ends.
3. Who will be covering Bubba Franks from our depleted safety corps?
Offense:
1. use max protection and turn Watson loose
2. Corey,Corey Corey- he can be a big factor if we get blocking at the second level
3. Go deep several times and hopefully hit a couple to keep them from stacking the box and blitzing. Then use some paly action if #2 works out.
ST's
1. Don't allow any big run backs on punts and KO's.
And finally the most important: NO TURNOVERS

Notice I said play action IF we run the ball effectively. I didn't say force the play action, slants, go routes, if they aren't there - big difference.

Dierdorf kind of summed it up - Patriots limping into Lambeau. Troy will play nickle. It's as if we're stuck in some perverse time warp. Not much you can do but ask guys to step up now, but the FO better step up next season. The catestrophic big play looms again against a gunslinger who pulls the playcall out of his ass and I think being susceptible to that AGAIN drains the entire team.
I also think DeOssie hit the nail on the head in his keys to the game - it is imperative we win the battle in both trenches today.

Well we are off to a pretty darned good start. Still odd that Corey carries on first and 10 from the 11 then comes out for second and third and 6 inside the 10. Looked to me like a lousy spot on Troy's catch. Brady looks pretty accurate today. Good thing whatever that was with Watson didn't go as badly as it could have. Maybe our luck is changing.

What happened with Watson? I'm watching on Gamecast and it said he had a 0 yd reception. Then all of a sudden the pats are inside the 10 and he had 36 recieving yds.

It appeared they stripped the ball as he was going down. Not clear on replay if his knee was down or not but either he or Gaffney recovered if it was in fact fumbled.
Well this series was prettu underwhelming. And Miller is beginning to concern me. Not quite shades of his predecessor, but his punts are definitely getting shorter.

It's the fumbles that concern me the most Mo. I can understand picks. Sometimes DBs make good plays. But I think that it's important for us to take care of the football, no need to help out the bad guys. :p

Gabriel ws on the field. I suspect it wasn't lust his fumble that caused his not playing status for awhile but maybe he wasn't paying attention to detail, or whatever, in other ways. So far, the Patriots are winning the LOS which is always a good sign. False start #68. 3 already.

A win over the pack is respectable. Maybe they can build on it.
We'll see when they face the Bears. Da Bears.
If the Pats(ies) aren't playing GAbriel b/c of the fumble, then that's just not right. Everyone fumbles occassionally. Belichick has fumbled half the season away. Should he be benched?

This game reminds me a lot of the Vikings game. As good as the Patriots look, the other teams QB in both games didn't look good at all. Farve, like the Vikes Johnson, didn't throw well, missed some open throws and the Packers had no run game. It's going to be a good test next week. da Bears have some good, big WR's, run pretty good and have a tough D. The Patriots need to continue to do this and not backslide again like after the Vikings game.

He was in there for a few reps. The announcers spoke at length about how perhaps BB distrusts him after fumbling last game. As far as I saw (I didn't see much of the fourth quarter) he was only thrown to once or twice.
Although we clobbered them, it's a little frustrating to see us blatantly not using one of our best receivers. It's not like all of a sudden they don't need the practice.
