there is a new movie, called Iraq for sale...
http://iraqforsale.org/ talks about the hijinx of Haliburton, Blackwater, CACI and others and how they are all making big bucks over this severely mismanaged debacle in Iraq. No one is getting fat except the friends of GWB.

According to this site, the median pay for truckers in the US is 35k.
140K over 9 months equates to over 180k/year. How could they have possibly expected to earn 5 times more than what their worth here with zero risk? EDIT: That's not to say I'm for using civilians in war zones; but those guys had a choice, they rolled the dice and sometimes lost. Last edited by sdaniels7114; 09-02-2006 at 09:02 AM. |

You can't be serious can you? Risk is the whole reason people have to pay more, and money is the only reason why people are attracted to riskier jobs. Hello? Anybody home? You're local trucker doesn't have RPG's flying by his windshield, and doesn't face being beheaded by terrorists. The same set of circumstances dictates salaries in all fields where safety is an obvious part of the job description. A fisherman in Alaska makes lots more than a fisherman in California. A Hazmat driver makes lots more than a regular driver. Higher risk always means higher wages.
