Who the heck are we to tell Iran "NO BOMB"...I mean come on....they are currently the strongest country in that region except for Israel.

Pakistan, India, Russia, China. Japan, Israel, North Korea all have bombs and all of them are reasonably close to them.

Also...hard not to argue with them that if you have a nuke...America will think twice before coming in...think North Korea here.

They are not going to use it...it would spell their doom if they use it. forget the martyr stuff...that's for the low level runners in radical Islam...the bigshots are all big babies.

So, anyways...a low level post on my part stating my opinion...I don't have the energy to research and I'm not sure I really care anyways.

You make some really good points. I guess that it just adds to the lack of incentive for people to invade them and I would think that's what they want. As you said, leaders are NOT suicidal. Note that Bin Ladin and others send others to die.
The problem with them building a nuke is if someone more lunatic gets hold of the technology. While their current leadership isn't suicidal, who knows what might happen in the future?
From a US standpoint, I imagine that the Pentagon would like to keep open the option of invading, or at least attacking, Iran. Them having nukes lessens that option significantly. A future, highly aggressive, Iranian regime could be very difficult to stop if it, say, invaded non-Shia Iraq or Saudi Arabia.
In defence of Iran, they were attacked by Iraq, backed sometime after the invasion by US support of various sorts. So, they do have some grounds for fearing a future invasion by us.

I would say that, given what we have done to Iraq, everyone has reason to fear an invasion by the US. No real reason beyond "fighting TWOT" is necessary.
