Totally agree. Rudy has more skelatons in his closet than a catocomb. I remember post 9/11 people were saying he wanted to run for president. Huh? Past sexual affairs and tabloid news do not bode well for potential candidates. Plus, Rudy is a diet liberal / right-wing light. He's all over the map politically. McCain is the GOP front runner. I'd say Hillary is for the Dems. Niether really excites me. I'd say Hillary actually scares me. McCain is mr. compromise. Again, too moderate for me. Too amnesty.

Giuliani represents everything wrong with todays party politics. He's all over the map when it comes to "supposed" republican ideals. He's for gun conrol and is pro-choice to name two. I'm not sure how "party" republicans would be salivating over him. He's simply another moderate like Arnold in Kalifornia.

Nixon...established the EPA, expanded the government.

Ford...a moderate, not a conservative

Reagan...ran enormous budget deficits

Bush I...ended the Gulf War and left Saddam in office

Bush II...is running even bigger budget deficits than Reagan, intent on nation-building, made the US the world's policeman.

Why the list? Because I don't know what a Republican is anymore. Smaller government? Hah! Fiscal responsibility? What? Cautious about international adventurism? When was that?

I guess that Rudy is as Republican as anyone else, but that dates back to the days when both parties were Big Tents, when neither one of them was hosting a Revivalist meeting, and when there was a fairly clear difference between a politician and an evangelist.

What is a Republican, 2006 version? Could someone who thinks the label fits him enlighten me?
