It was bizarre. I can only assume that Materazzi said something really insulting. Even so, it was an unbelievably stupid thing to do.

He was probably frustrated from being molested most of the game. He was way out of line though, he should have known better and kept his cool.

However, that red card was one of the most entertaining I've seen. He head-butted him like a dinosaur and completely flattened the guy.

The amazing thing is he didn't say it to be arrogant...he was sincere...I went home and told everyone about it." - Bob Kraft

Does anyone have a link to a video of what he did ? I'd like to see it but don't want to watch world cup highlights forever to see it.

It was straight into the chest. A true "Glasgow kiss" is head to head (and really does damage). Zidane's was blatant, extraordinarily stupid but basically harmless.

That was the greatest headbutt of all time. The guy went flying back about 5 feet. I think Zidane has a career on the UFC waiting for him.

The 2 were talking crap back and forth. Then Zidane gets ahead a few feet, slows down and says soemthing. Then he gets ahead about 5-8 feet, something is said...and he makes a quick 180...glaring eyes and tremendous head butt to the chest....wow.

I think so too.
It was so quick and powerful.
The guy FLEW. He got destroyed.

Right before this happened I was telling a friend I thought Zidane looked like Mark Messier. Too bad that's where the similarities ended.

They look similar, but Zidane's a class act (THE class act) of soccer who obviously needed something ridiculous to set him off. I hate Messier (and Pavel Bure) with a personal passion, and Zidane is better in every way than him.

Something really nasty had to have been said to set him off like that. I bet it had something to do with his Algerian background.
